  1. They are back in action this week at Saquarema - this time seeded No. 3 so high hopes for a repeat performance. If they do, then we have to consider them potential qualifiers if they can keep it going. After this, they are at Guadalajara, Mexico then Xiamen in BPT Challenge events in April. They have till 10 June I think to make Top 17 (max 2 per NOC, so can remove a lot of & ).
  2. Thanks Rafa for this - you are correct. I was a bit hasty in jumping to conclusions.
  3. If I read the Qualification document correctly, could not enter anyone into the European Qualification Tournament, because they managed to get two Men (and two Women) through the Ranking process - I understand and get that. AIN (aka Russia) only qualified 1 Man through the Ranking/Grand Slam (Larin), so could enter athletes into the Tournament, and as a result have successfully qualified another two Men (and two Women). So they end up with 3 Men qualified????
  4. I know that Open Water 10km qualifiers can swim in the 800m/1500m Swimming (subject to country NOC quotas to being exceeded). I thought it also worked the other way, i.e. 800m/1500m swimmers can take part in Open Water, but I cannot find anything to back my imagination up. Does anyone else think this is the case, or have I just got that wrong?
  5. Thanks Rafa - helpful analysis. Of course, not finishing is what got GB into this situation in the first place.
  6. The GB Team seem to be focused on the Milton round as well - comments from Ethan Vernon on BBC Sport site after Gold at the Euros: "It is one of the last races we will do against the guys here, so it is nice to take a good time and take some confidence going into Paris," Vernon said. "A few of us are going off onto the road now with our teams, so we are not going to be back together for a few months. "It was nice to have a high like that before we go off and do our own things for a bit, then come back for the last Nations Cup... I think it will get better going into Paris." Seems remarkably confident, almost cocky, that they are as good as qualified even before the Nations Cup starts. I have a bad feeling about this....
  7. Don’t understand the latest Olympic Rankings on the UCI site - apparently as at 16/1/24, but no points from last week’s Euros? Anyone else think this is wrong, or just me? I am as curious as the others above to see how the actual results amend the GB position, but seems they have dropped two places to 13th.
  8. Rule 6.4 in this document on WT site confirms the Olympic spot only goes to Grand Slam series winner if they have not already qualified through ranking - no reallocation from Grand Slam 2nd, etc. http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/viewer_pdf/external/pdfjs-2.1.266-dist/web/viewer.html?file=http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/att_file/documents/WT-Standing-Procedures-For-Grand-Slam-Champions-Series(01162023).pdf
  9. The latest rankings at 17 Oct on the UCI website, for some reason, do not include the World Cup Freestyle event in China I think. Not sure why.
  10. How does the OQS work with this sport? There is no direct qualification from the OQS, only from the OWSR; there is nothing in the World Skate Regulations that refers to the ranking points scale for these events (are they 'World Championships' or Pro Tour?); will other events in 2024 after the World Champs also qualify for ranking points?
  11. Why does it take so long for the IJF to update their Olympic Tracker? The World Ranking List is up to date, so it cannot be that hard can it?
  12. Just dropped - https://www.fih.hockey/news/paris-2024-continental-quotas-for-olympic-qualifiers-revealed Women’s Olympic Qualifiers Africa: 0 Asia: 4 Europe: 8 Oceania: 1 Pan America: 3 Men’s Olympic Qualifiers Africa: 1 Asia: 5 Europe: 7 Oceania: 1 Pan America: 2 Must mean that all 8 qualifiers who have already made the EuroHockey finals in Germany in August go through automatically, unless they win or they are Wales/Scotland, with additional qualifiers (2 Women's and Men's teams) to be found on top.
  13. Has anyone seen the Continental Quotas for the Qualification Tournaments that FIH are supposed to confirm by 1 Feb 2023 (based on end Jan rankings)?
  14. I see new Qualifying Document uploaded. https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/Olympic-Games/Paris-2024/Paris2024-QS-FINA-ArtisticSwimming.pdf?_ga=2.189237411.920809123.1675179215-349632716.1665779537 I think this clarifies that European NOC's can only qualify at the 2024 World Aquatic Games, even if France chooses not to participate, so the European Qualifier is redundant.
  15. Trying to work out which of the FIG World Cup events listed on their site for 2023 qualify toward Criteria 2 for Trampoline. The document says there will be 5 events spread across 2023/24, and I can find 2 listed in 2024 on the FIG Calendar. There are 3 in 2023 that call themselves "FIG World Cup 2023", for Varna, Santarem and Coimbra, but there are another 2 also with a similar label: World Cup 2023 AGF Trophy - Baku FIG TRA World CUP - Palm Beach Do these count as well, or instead of? Cannot find any other source to give me clarity and I would appreciate any pointers from anyone who knows more.
  16. Updated Qualifying Document uploaded to IOC site to confirm 17 October 2023 is end of the qualifying period (previously "XX October")
  17. Impressive result - the only country to have qualified both teams, so now just concentrate on preparation for Paris.
  18. Do all three 2022/23/24 World Championships count toward the Olympic Ranking or is it just the 2023 event? (I am reading the head of section D1. of the Qualification document.) I am a bit confused by the wording when it uses the word "includes", which implies there might be others to count as well.
  19. And IBA not happy about it! https://www.iba.sport/news/iba-expresses-concerns-on-ioc-statement-responds-on-key-issues/
  20. In Rhythmic Gymnastics, does anyone know what happens if a gymnast is selected by their NOC for both the Group and Individual events? I cannot see any reference to this in the document.
  21. Seen the Qualification document, which highlights the OQS, which has been well trailed. Does anyone know whether this has any pre-qualification, like Breaking? Not seen any detail on the UCI site or anywhere else.
  22. What is happening with the Grand Slam event in this sport? It seems WT tied everything to the China/Wuxi link up, but now China is cancelling any international sport for the rest of the year, this seems to be in limbo. I cannot find any web sites that provide up to date information other than 2022 Final cancelled, and wondered whether anyone else has seen any formal updates on what is happening going forward? It is meant to be a qualifying event in 2023.
  23. Really close result, with the last round moving GB into the Bronze after bad results for FRA and IRE. Half way through the competition today it was touch and go whether we were even going to make the qualification, so great result in the end.
  24. But there will only be 3 paddlers in this event. B.2.1 allows for a K1 athlete to double up in C1, and vice versa, if no-one else qualifies for the other event. But this same paragraph specifically refers to only these two events. There is no equivalent clause for Extreme, at least that I can see.
