African Games isn't a direct qualifying competition in Table tennis , we have the African Qualifiers in Kigali in May

Ah my mistake, got confused there! Would make sense as there would be no Egyptian involvement then

So the qualifiers for the men’s table tennis quarterfinals from what I can tell are:

    :NGR:EGY:EGY:EGY:EGY:CGO:NGR:EGY

in that case who would get the 4th quota given Egypt has already qualified a team?

It appears that the results system is wrong and :SEN beat :EGY in one of the Round of 16 matches.

Therefore the 4 qualifiers are :NGR Nigeria x2, :CGO Congo and :SEN Senegal.

Crisis of the 4th qualifier averted.

  3. Canada, Great Britain and New Zealand have all withdrawn from the upcoming Universiade. Australia and USA won’t be sending athletes in swimming, unclear about other sports.

Main issues from GB appear to be Russia/Belarus (now resolved as they are banned), Covid-19 and travel restrictions (in particular the extensive regulations being required by China/organising committee, as athletes for these games are self funded and receive limited organisational support)

  4. :GBR Great Britain team

    Alpine Skiing (4)

Boys - Ted Slade, Aidan Urquhart

Girls - Alexa Elliff, Isla Ward

    Biathlon (1)

    Girls - Anna Berger

    Figure Skating (2)

    Boys - Edward Appleby

    Girls - Elena Komova

    Nordic Combined (1)

    Girls- Mani Cooper

    Short Track Speed Skating (1)

    Boys - Adam Hill

    Snowboarding (1)

    Boys - Koby Cook

Our best chance of a medal will likely come from Edward Appleby in the Figure Skating, has had some very promising results in the past couple of years.

But they are classified, otherwise they can't compete. So I'm confused about what she meant or implied exactly :p

They are classified, however for the past 2 seasons and in races earlier this season Yang Hongqiong was classified as a 10.5, now she’s a 10.

Time wise that is only worth 1% (86% of the raw time instead of 87%), but given the gap was only 1.7 seconds today could have made the difference.

These Chinese results are insane :d:lol:

    2014: no medal

    2018: 1 gold

2022 after one and a half days: 6 gold, 4 silver, 6 bronze

And it’s not even because the Russians aren’t there, they are beating the dominant athletes in their events like Oksana Masters and Marie Bochet.

China’s Paralympic programme continues to impress even in sports they have very little pedigree in.

    This is the current ranking:

ironically Japan, GB and Canada are the three worst teams, but GB have a 13cm average cushion over Canada with 2 more draws to come
