  1. Unfortunately I got infected through my roommate who came back from Austria about 1,5 week ago after the town he visited got quarantined due to a Corona outbreak. He and all of his friends he went on the trip with all got sick after returning to the Netherlands. Fortunately, my roommate has already recovered in full and I'm slowly recovering as well, and luckily we both only had mild symptoms. However, I've been locked inside with my roommate for more than a full week now and I'm already slowly going crazy. We can't even go outside to buy groceries or medication and have to rely on friends and family to drop that off at the door. Although I'm very thankful for everyone's support, I can't wait to go outside again in a few days when I'm fully recovered, even if it's only a 5-minute walk to the nearest supermarket.

  2. Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum, but as I heard some of you might know me from my Twitter account @2020athletes. I think you know this has been suspended, officially due to violating impersonation rules (it seemed a bit too official & one can use emblems when the account is not too popular. With my last few tweets I reached some tens of thousands of impressions which triggered the alarm). My mistake, but there's nothing I can do about it now. In any case, my name is Matej (you can call me Matt) & I come from Slovenia. I might not be the most active member here but I will try to get into discussion when I have the time

  3. The anglo army came out with guns blazing with their statements and Dick Pound. It's obvious the game will be postponed, we don't need them to tell us that it's all about their political sport agenda. Same as in Russia doping case. It's especially funny from UK given they didn't give two shits about the virus like a week ago.

  4. Also, why has "COVID-19" part been added? I do realize we like our abbreviations around here, but I'm pretty sure COVID-19 is not a sports federation.

  5. Hahaha, don't have much of a choice with these housing prices here in Amsterdam. That's right! He's a nice guy. He asked me if it was okay that he would come back to Amsterdam as his mother had cancer not that long ago and staying with her would be a higher risk than staying with me. We tried everything we could to keep the virus contained by for example having him only stay in his bedroom and me providing him with food by leaving it in front of his doorstep, but to no avail. I can't wait. Thanks for the support!

  9. Health ministry here said from today they are not going to announce the number of infected/deaths province by province, it will be only the total number, because they think those numbers gave some people wrong idea about some places are "safer" and therefore we have lots of travels to those cities ! according to health ministry ,nowhere is actually "safe" some provinces are reporting less numbers mostly because they are not doing a good job testing people. personally I think this is a terrible idea, I prefer to know the situation in my town, I understand why a complete lockdown is not possible here, but still they can block the roads, that's what they were supposed to do 2 weeks ago. but only happened for few cities. according to officials, 8.5 million people traveled outside of their town in new year holidays (in past 5 days) while at least the numbers were steady here in past 10 days we are expected to see a new wave of coronavirus in next 2 weeks. and with more doctors and nurses are getting infected themselves and hospitals are still full with current patients, things don't look good.

  10. I’m not a huge fan of animated/cartoon shows, but I’ve been rewatching Avatar the Last Airbender on Netflix and loving it (thanks vpn). I really forgot how awesome that series was. I’m on Book 3 (season 3) now, so I’m hoping to finish it by the end of this week, and the move onto the Legend of Korea. I’m also eagerly awaiting Netflix’s live-action adaptation.

  11. I also recall Denmark in TISC Open 2019 had made templates for all and then realised during the Grand Final that they forgot to make one for themselves. I have heard the member of the host committee who was responsible for making templates has been moved to a new position. I think he is now the manager for some other contest?

  12. This reminds me of USA making templates for everybody but themselves

  13. I had my first hosting nightmare tonight. I dreamt that the big day came and I failed to prepare any of the templates.

  14. I'm satisfied somewhat with my state government. We have sealed borders with other states . No public transport, no railways, no international flight and very soon no domestic flight too. It was supposed to be in covid positive districts .But eventually most of them are following. Only pharmacies and hospitals are open here. Groceries were meant to be open but people here have closed it. So basically no transport no shops. All temples , churces and mosques closed. Schools and Colleges have been closed. Here's a look at my place :

  15. Cowardly, yes. Corrupt? Not necessarily because of this. Bach hasn't done the best job of expressing to the world the intentions of the IOC. I think everyone involved knows that postponement is inevitable, but it takes time to get everyone on board to make sure that's followed through properly for all interested parties. With all due respect to Canada, they're one nation out of 200+ (I will say the exact same thing about the United States who has also been chirping). I think the back breaker was Seb Coe. When he's saying to move to postpone the Olympics as head of the most prominent sports federation involved in the Games, that carries a lot of weight.

  24. Not really. Tests are limited, so there is a limited number of new cases that can be confirmed daily. Let's say one place tests 10k people daily, 8k of whom test positive. If there are 25k positive altogether, then 8k new cases is a big boost. But if there are 50k or 100k altogether, then 8k becomes more and more insignificant. Basically, one number rises, while the other stays the same. Of course the percentages can only go down...

  26. It looks there will be no olympics this summer. Let's play the game then. Let's do the olympics online. The game is IT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED TODAY, Today is 23rd. Tomorrow, on 24th, there should be the opening ceremony. The questions for tomorrow, 24 th: 1. WHO WILL LIT THE OLYMPIC FLAME? 2. WHO WILL BE YOUR COUNTRY FLAG BEARER? 3. WHICH COUNTRY WILL LOOK THE BEST IN THE PARADE OF NATIONS? And what happened so far? On 22nd, sotfball and women's football. Japan beats Australia in opening softball match, it was played in Fukushima to show the world it is safe out there. And first win for TEAM CANADA in softball against Mexico. In women's football USA plays very well, an easy win over New Zealand, postmatch interview with Megan Rapinoe gets viral - strong words on Trump, on world situation, on women rights, on minorities rights etc. Canada wins over Zambia 3-0. On 23rd, softball again and men's football. US proves to be too strong for Canada in a softball, but don't worry, there will be many chances for a revenge in other disciplines. In men's football great play by Spain (3-0 vs Korea Rep.) and by Argentina (3-0 vs New Zealand). Good games for France (2-1 vs Ivory Coast) and Brazil (2-1 vs South Africa), It is a pity Canada didn;t qualify, but Mexico and USA were too strong in qualifying championships. And they prove they are strong with Mexico-Romania 1-0 and USA-New Zealand 1-1. The biggest upset is Egypt win over Germany 2-1 with great play by Mo Salah who scores twice!!! Let;s play together, here is the schedule https://tokyo2020.org/en/schedule/ and here are qualification systems https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Summer_Olympics#Sports

  27. What if the situation gets better in summer/autumn but then worsen again next winter in some part of the world...it's better to postpone the Olympics for a couple of months and then maybe to 2021 rather than missing the only opportunity to hold them.

  29. President of the Republic Kais Saied had a telephone conversation with Italian President Sergio Matterella, in which they examined the health situation in Italy and Tunisia, and the world. The President of the Republic declared Tunisia’s readiness to dispatch a medical commission to assist the efforts of the Italian authorities, despite the modest means available in Tunisia because today situation concerns not only one country but the entire globe. The Italian President reiterated his thanks to Tunisia and its people for this noble stance.

  34. Is there no way to go by regular car? I know going to Rio is still (or again) possible that way, at least yesterday it was. I believe there are signs banning bigger vehicles though (like buses)? Edit: I guess if you're actually moving there it might be a bit of an (impossible) challenge to go with only a regular car..

  37. But certainly not in my case... I tried to be the good guy, wanting to get it by myself but they refused. Kept the positive thought 'oh maybe they are affected by COVID so it will be slower' And when I asked to the customer service just now, they told me that the courier returned the package to the drop point because he saw my house seems empty and did not bother to knock .

  40. Can't blame IOC for being greedy. Olympics happens every two years, they have to cash in during that very small window. It's not soccer with gazillion games and competitions every month. Pro sports is money and all about the money. Pro sports is not about heath. Then again, IOC survived boycotted Games and the 1972 hostage crisis so Tokyo delay won't hurt them as much on the long run IMO.

  41. And Canada is the first domino to fall. I expect others will follow suit in the coming days, and the IOC will have no choice to postpone. Silver lining is that the IOC is yet again being exposed as the cowardly, corrupt bastards that they are.

  43. I don't know, I wouldn't put my hopes up for Eckhoff too much. The fact that she had so many wins this season was out of nowhere and everybody was used to her inconsistency especially when it came to standing shooting. Seeing as Vittozzi looked like a shadow of her former self after her super season last year, I'd like to see more proof from Tiril that she is capable of being a consistent competitor, especially seeing how she completely evaporated during the World Championships and came back to her 2018-2019 season during the final shooting in Kontiolahti's pursuit. As for Roeiseland, she might come back even as a bigger 'monster', she can easily reach domination levels of such greats as Darya Domracheva, Magdalena Neuner, I guess Dahlmeier too if we look at what she did during her short career. In all honesty, I think the women's tour is very open right now for top talent. If you'd ask me, I don't really think that Dorothea Wierer is a super excellent biathlete, nor did I ever think that Gabriela Soukalova was too (as both previous winners of the overall world cup). The reason why Doro right now can look so good is because the women's tour doesn't have a Johannes or a Martin, which I think that Marte is capable of taking that place. I think women's biathlon level is really down after the peak days of Neuner, Henkel, Ekholm, Berger, Domracheva, Makarainen, Zidek. Of course, not saying that Doro or Gabi are not talented, just thinking that people perceive that they are much stronger than they actually are, regarding the competition that they are facing. Germany is at its weakest that its ever been with Herrmann being a less charismatic coinflip Gossner and Preuss + Hinz never growing into podium challenging form. French women are on a bit of a dip too, with Braisaz's and Simon's inconsistency. No real external challengers from smaller countries (that was the role that Makarainen, Domracheva and Kuzmina played) and Russia is extremely weak as well. So yeah, I'm really waiting to see if Nilsson can shake things up.
