  8. And the Danish Christmas dinner. Duck with 2 kinds of potatoes, creamy brown sauce, pickled red cabbage and stuffing And for dessert: Risalamande (rice pudding with cream, almonds and vanilla, served with cherry sauce) In the dessert there's a single whole almond. The one who gets it wins a present (in some families it's a part of the "game" to hide that you've got it). For the first time in a bunch od years, I got it and ended up hiding it in my glass of port (one of the classics)

  9. Got some nice custom made things for Tokyo this summer: Got a nice 4K monitor just in time for the YOG too . I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and realizes that gifts are fun, but not the most important of the holidays. I normally wouldn’t make a post about mine, but it seemed to fit the theme of the forum. Merry Christmas

  12. I had almost forgotten that game! I thought you were going to select 2014 World Cup QF, which was an impressive victory for France. Spain-France (basketball) has been the rivalry I have enjoyed the most this decade, just after Nadal-Federer-Djokovic. There have been really good games for both teams!

  20. 300th medal in the Olympic history of was very special to me. (It's not 300th anymore as our athletes got some medals after doping DSQs later on).

  23. Alright, European-American Christmas is probably the best way to describe how many family celebrates. I used to go mass on Christmas Eve (generally at 5PM), though I don’t anymore. Christmas Eve dinner would generally be at 6:30, and then we’d to go to the local cinema and catch a comedy of some sort. Tonight however, we’re going to my wealthy Step-Grandmother’s house to have Christmas Eve dinner with her side of the family for a change. It’s about an hour and half drive to her house, so we’ll drive back home tonight. My family will probably go to bed rather, which has always been the case (especially when Santa was real for those few years ), though I may stay up later and watch the NORAD Santa Tracker (as I will throughout the day because it’s fun (I believe he’s over Oceania at the minute)). In morning we’ll all wake, and gather in the hallway, before proceeding out to up gifts together (this used to happen at 6AM, but I’ve been told Santa made a mess, and so we should probably wait until 8AM ). “Santa” will have filled our stockings (mine being a NASCAR themed one from my childhood), and then will open presents from one another (My parents chose to say Santa did stockings, and they did the presents (when I was younger). Stockings/Gifts will take about two hours to get through. Then all go off and do our own preparations before family comes over in the evening. We’ll have a Christmas dinner that mirrors our Thanksgiving dinner (Ham instead of Turkey generally). Board Games/Card Games will be played. My family will play an ultra-completive game of (Nertz), a card game that’s in the realm of solitaire, but played in pairs and with lots of threats and swearing. After that, we’ll play a funny social-engineering games or something. Then everyone goes to sleep, and I watch SNL Christmas Skits. In terms of a lights/tree... We always put up our Christmas lights on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and leave them up until a few days after New Years Day. We generally put our tree up in the first week of December, though we did it at the start of the second week this year. We don’t really have anything to special to eat (though I’ll post something if I didn’t remember), and there’s not really any dinner traditions we partake in. I will be listening to Christmas music non-stop today and tomorrow. The 25th is most important day for us. We have a very small chance at a White Christmas (which would be insane). Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and an early, Happy Kwanza.

  24. January 6th. We decorate on the 24th. Some other families do it earlier, but 24th has now been a long tradition for us, even if it gets hectic.

  29. Christmas Eve is here reserved for all kinds of fish-food (mostly codfish, squid and bass)... Also it's the day when everything gets prepared, including decorating the Christmas tree. Then on the 25th comes the main Christmas day. That's when everyone comes together and plenty of food is served. Gifts are opened and board games are played...

  30. For China definitely goes to Li Na the tennis player. She is not an Olympic medalist but won 2 grand slam titles, becoming the first asian ever to achieve this. She is very popular among Chinese fans and sponsors. Top1 influential and profitable athlete during the early decade. And thanks to her, the tennis sports improve fast in China and becoming a popular one. There are lots of high level professional tennis events held in China now. For the team goes to National Women's Volleyball Team. they won 2 time World Cup and the gold medal in Rio with several breath-taking games with Brazil, Netherland and Serbia, the process is very nervous. this is widely considered as the most important gold won in past two Olympics. BTW there will be two biographical films releasing next year in China respectively for Li Na and Women's Volleyball Team. these also are the only two sports biographical films until now, quite a privilege.

  31. Well. Off to church in a moment (that one day a year for a lot of Danes) and then Christmas really starts with Swedish christmas lunch (we do Swedish Christmas eve and Danish Christmas day), TV advent calendars, Disney Christmas show and later plenty of cake.

  32. Nobody really celebrates it exactly the same here Some people have an extra big dinner on the 24th, others on First (25) or Second (26) Christmas Day. Or on all of them Also generally one or two of the days involves sort of a bigger-than-usual breakfast with some special stuff. We'll have that tomorrow, in our case these plans depend mostly on my sister's work and her availability (sick children in hospitals don't take a Christmas break, so yeah). I believe tonight we have a big dinner with both her boyfriend and my girlfriend present, so that'll be nice Tomorrow apart from the breakfast we don't have too many plans, this time the whole 'Christmas with family' thing will be on the 26th at, I believe, my uncle and aunt's place. I heard there'll be picanha, so that's good.
