  3. Vancouver just beacuse it was about pure emotions, the whole atmosphere around Kumaritashvili´s tragedy was so strong, that I can not forget a single moment from this opening ceremony, the entry of Georgian delegation during the parade of nations with the black ribbon on flag was so touching + the fantastic version of Hallelujah is one of the moment I´ll remember the whole life, dude I had so strong goosebumbs during this song, I feel it like it was today.. But every opening ceremony had at least one unforgettable moment, Atlanta 1996 and the sequence of the Old greek sports behind that weird turning sheet or what it was, was at the time something huge. London 2012 had many great sequences, the industrial sequence is unforgettable, Beijing 2008 and that ship + drums sequence is also memorable, Torino 2006 and the Ferrari on ice, Lillehammer 1994 with the ski jumper with Olympic flame and also the first SVK delegation at the Olympics is something to remember strongly forever as well, Sochi 2014 and the epic failure of the 5th ring lol, Ri 2016 and the Gisele Bundchen moment... yummy...

It was one epic stage in really cold weather in the Tatras and something for the biathlon fans, also the Fialková sisters were watching the race more info, and highlights later

  7. I'm not saying he or anyone else wasn't racist back then. What I'm saying is that now everyone wants to be offended and play the victim by out of place, irresponsible comments. Not that in any case it doesn't deserve an apology to those people who actually received an injury, either moral, psychological or physical. And like I say, whoever says his/herself hasn't thrown an insult, being a racial/gender/religious/social epithet or a disregarding, offensive comment to belittle someone for any other reason, is certainly lying and in that case, is just a big hypocrit. But truth to be told, unless we're talking about actual hate crimes (genocide, mass murder, segregation, illegal experimentation, human trafficking), I really find unnecessary an apology out of time in mass media, if not, outright farsical and insincere; but you know, nowadays people is more concerned about outward gestures than actual honesty and taking full responsibility regarding actions, omissions and statements; what I call political correction.

  8. This is of course only a 2000's movie fueled theory, but perhaps, only perhaps, FIG has just given the boot to Mamma Viner, so she "randomly" put some bombs on those crowns, so the all around final be a tribute to the 1812 overture. So if I were Linoy Ashram (or another of the finalists) I would fake an injury in order to stay as far as possible from the Averinas.

  9. do I sound like someone who supports the current regime ? if I have only "one wish" in my life that is to see regime change here in my life (I'm not optimistic about it though , maybe after 50-60 years and i don't think I live that much) of course only peacefully. I don't want another revolution, and I don't want a fucking western country telling us what to do and what's good for us. we already had that 60 years ago when they toppled the democratic elected prime minister to keep their puppet "Shah" on power. that leaded us to this current disaster. the only way for positive change is to educate people and then again educate people. and that's not possible with bans , suspensions and sanctions. people don't improve their "culture" when they have to worry about food, medicines etc. I just hate when media exaggerate about things. most of these news are only half correct. I can give you detailed answers about every single matter. but I think that's pointless because you don't listen. so I make it as short as possible. The Asian Volleyball Championship is happening in Iran right now and women are allowed to go the stadium. do I have to show you some pictures ? I can do that if you don't believe me. and it happened in other sports like basketball. handball. but yes in sports where men are half naked (or whatever they call it) like wrestling, swimming etc women are NOT allowed. football is a different matter. I explained it in details somewhere else. our football NT captain Masoud Shojaei expressed his idea about women should be allowed something like 1000 times. even in front of the president, yeah hardliners hate him and their media use every single opportunity to attack him but he is still our NT captain. nobody "punished" him. he even played against an Israeli club in Europa league. I don't know what do you mean by "athletes are punished" ? punished for what exactly ?? 6 of our NT players had "Green Wristband" in 2009 in crucial WCQ match vs South Korea to support the green movement. one of them was Shojaei and he is still playing for the NT. the rest are retired and coaching in the league. nothing happened to them (actually that was the real bravery and people never forget those 6 players, at least I won't) and about the gay people. I told you before. nobody is killed in Iran only for being gay. in Iran they simply prefer to ignore it. because they don't want to accept there are gay people. they are not trying to track and find gay people. no at all. yes there is death penalty for sexual intercourse between two men (and even not for two women) but for proving that the judge needs 4 adult person to confirms it ! I'm sure nobody invites 4 guys to his bedroom. this is simply a rule to scare people from making it to the public. and if you come to Iran and tell people you are gay. half of them don't care, probably 30% will be curious and ask friendly questions about it. and 10-20% will not like you and stop the conversation. nobody is going to harm you for that. I'm sure about it. absolutely nobody. even those fanatic stupid Islamists. they always say this is a disease not a crime. (I know this is still bad, I'm just explaining the situation) things are not simply black and white. and Iran is not North Korea. (and I'm starting to think maybe even North Korea is not that bad, I learned to not trust the western media )

  14. For me it is Beijing 2008 by a distance for many reasons. But most of all I will never ever forget this magical moment when Li Ning was hoisted up to the roof of the stadium revealing the moving scroll as he made his way around the stadium with that really poignant music. And then the way the fire zipped around the cauldron and burst into flame. It was a beautifully artistic way of lighting the torch Edit: sadly I can't copy the video here, but starting at 4:09:01

  18. This is a massive over-reaction. The policies his government has put forth over the last four years have shown he is anything but racist. What he did was racist and stupid, but he owned up to it and apologized - certainly more than you can say about other world leaders. I am getting sick of this persecution of people for past mistakes to score political points, but it is the new norm, and will only become even more normalized as we live in a new age where political candidates (or any public figure for that matter) have their entire past on social media to be scrutinized. The problem here lies in hypocrisy. This is an example of why the virtue-signaling, holier than thou posturing of liberal politicians like Trudeau today is so frustrating and dangerous, and only leads to further polarization and the election of populist figures. For all of the terrible things that done Donald Trump has done, at least he is unabashedly a piece of shit, and doesn't pretend to be perfect. In summation, this incident shouldn't taint your entire perception of Trudeau, and certainly does not make him a racist. Is he a stupid and unqualified moron, yeah, of course, but he's not a racist. Another thing to consider is that Canada is a parliamentary democracy - the real issue will be reconciling voting for Liberal candidates who are brown, while these photographs of their leader lie in the background. At the end of the day, I don't know if it is quite as damaging as it would be for a Presidential candidate who is directly voted for.

option 2, I remember so many exams I went to without sleeping a minute. but well I was 17-18 and not sleeping wasn't a problem for me. even for 2 nights in a row. I guess I can't do that anymore. for example I didn't sleep last night (was on a deadline for my job and had to finish something, and also I wanted to watch the wrestling early in the morning) and I'm very tired now. still no sleep because I have things to do (and if you ask me why I'm answering to you while I have important things to do. because I'm on my PC to do my job and you need a break sometimes)

  26. I understand boxing. this sport is simply hard to judge. but wrestling shouldn't be that hard. they also have video challenge system !! there are 2 problems. 1) rules are not clear. there are so many 50/50 situations, 2) those who apply these rules are corrupt . and I have to tell you the current UWW is an upgrade comparing to the old FILA. you can imagine how bad it was. and it's not about all combat sports, taekwondo is going into the right direction. yes there are still matches like Walkden-Zheng this year. but they reduced it big time. personally I don't feel "organized cheating" anymore when I watch teakwondo. while in wrestling I simply never trust the refs when we are facing certain countries. for example Azerbaijan used to receive favorable calls all the time. but since last year they stopped their financial support and this year I have to say some of their wrestlers got robbed. they turned into the victim in a year !

  29. I said last night that I consider that Atli-Sanayev match 60-40 for Sanayev. and I wasn't wrong. Sanayev was a bit better but Atli survived in the last seconds. so Micic has a VERY good chance for the quota. but the Italian Davidovi is also got some good results recently. that won't be piece of cake. btw Bajrang got robbed in the semis. that 4pts throw was dubious at best and after that the center referee (who happened to be from Iran) called 1pt and 2pts for Bajrang in 3-4 times but the other two refs rejected him.

  31. @phelps you should learn from Hungary to be so fast. they found Musukaev only few months ago and you just saw what happened. not a great day for Iran but it was all expected. Yazdani had no chance from the start. still he lost a very winnable match. Atri on other hands had two very close matches (he won the first match exactly in the very last second) before losing 2-0 to Uguev and he had the golden chance for 2pts takedown in the last minute. just missed it. even if Uguev wins the semifinal, Atri still has to wrestle the winner of AZE or MGL. still a very tough task . Indian 57kg surprised me, I wrote you can never underestimate India in this light weights but still his results were very surprising. I can't say "good luck" for him in the semifinal for obvious reasons. even though it's always hard for me to cheer for Russia in wrestling but that's how repechage works ! what's amazing is they still didn't disqualify Aliyev ! they had to bring the entire Nur-Sultan police to remove him from the arena. it will be the biggest scandal ever if they let him wrestle the repechage. I know he got robbed but his reaction was unbelievable.

  32. Every country in the world has at least one enemy. (whatever you called) If all countries decide they don’t compete their nemesis, there will be no competition. I live in Turkey which is 95percent Muslim. Thank god we don’t have such policy. Yeah we’re not the brightest sport country (buying athletes , dopes, etc) at least we don’t act like spoiled child. We compete with Cyprus- a country we don’t even recognize- . If Iranian federations keep their discrimination against any nation’s athlete. Yeah they should be banned too. If my country do same thing , they should be banned. Sorry for Iranian judo. But it’s the right thing to do . About med games I think ISR and PLE should participate. But it is impossible with 7 Arabic nations.

Just remember Ricky Martin made a succesful coup d'etat in Puerto Rico, after some unfortunate and I admit out of place rant for a political leader such as the the Governor, but in my mind I just thought how biased and judgemental is the people to actually make him resign for such triviality, when 99.99% of the world's population has talked trash abou others, even throwing insults, at one point of their life.

    Judo 2019 Discussion Thread

yeah that and that's funny people/media in west call him just "Ayatollah" sometimes. that's wrong. that's just a title. there are lots of Ayatollahs. Supreme Leader is the current title for "that guy" actually it happened once before. back in 1987 during the World Wrestling Championships one of the Iranian wrestlers faced and beat the Israeli wrestler in Greco-Roman. at first it was a great victory over the "enemy" and from what i heard the newspapers made it like a huge win. but then when someone told that to the "supreme leader" (not this guy but the founder of the Islamic republic) they called the whole team from France in middle of the competition and didn't let the freestyle team to even participate (freestyle competition was supposed to held right after the GR) one of the rare occasions Iran didn't participate in World Freestyle wrestling Champs. so no beating Israel won't change a thing. you know Mollaei's plan was going to the final and beat Muki (and I don't know what after that, most probably not returning to Iran) but then when he lost the semifinal he went for his "Plan B" and posing himself as a victim and started to lie and working with IJF. if he could beat Muki in the final and then return back to Iran with his gold medal. that would be something interesting. he would lose his place in the team for sure but they wouldn't touch him. I'm sure about that. and that way he could be a "real hero" and maybe that could encourage other athletes to maybe do the same. but now, to me he is a lying coward. even though lots of people in Iran believe his lies and still consider him hero. they will face the reality when he lose next time. he is speaking in his interviews like all of his defeats were intentional and I had to explain to some of my friends, if he is such an unbeatable champion, why he never won the Asian title in his career ?! there is no Israel in Asia. but people believe what they want to believe.

  40. Another group, another dramatic conclusion... lacked a total of 2 sets in the whole tournament to qualify for the eightfinals, such a shame, because this previously unknown team proved it's dangerous and able to play on a high level. At the other hand, I'm happy for especially since their fans are amongst the best ones in European volleyball Overall, Group C turned out to be easily the most interesting one.

  41. I don't know how many people even read my previews. I had no intention to continue it but then it's better to finish when you start something. I make it very short this time 57 1) between Atli and Micic. the Serbian beat Atli last time but I think Atli will be slightly the favorite this time. Micic has 2 shots at the Olympic spot. his own match vs Atli and then Atli vs Sanayev in the semifinal. that's a pretty good chance even though I'm not going to pick him both matches are something like 60-40 against him. 2) Sanayev (or Artas Sanaa as his birth Russian name) no doubt. this is the dream draw and if he makes it to the final. one of these guys will win the quota luckily. 3) there are few big names here. Takahashi of Japan is my pick but then that American Fix is doing great recently. the Armenian kid is the Euro Champ at 61kg. he was amazing at the Euro but I don't know how he makes weight for 57kg. if he makes the weight properly he will be a big favorites. also never count India out in lighter weights. 4) as usual the 4th quarter is the toughest one. Uguev is the favorite but then we have European Games Champion Amiraslanov. Asian Games champion Bekhbayar, Asian Champion Atri from Iran, World bronze medalist Yutsenko, 3 times Asian finalists Kang of PRK + Andreyev. obviously Uguev is the first pick but I have hard time to pick another one for the repechage. my picks: 65 1) Bajrang, no doubt. and he will most probably bring one of these guys to the Olympics with himself. I see 5 or 6 wrestlers in the same level in that part. will be an interesting battle between them. 2) another easy quarter. I think it will be between Mongolia and Kazakhstan, no chance for the loser because the winner is going to lose to Bajrang in the semis 3) this is an OK draw, Khinch is the clear favorite but don't count the Hungarian Musuakev out (they just took him from Russia !) the Turkish guy is always seeded high but I don't think he can beat those 2 guys but there is a chance for him. 4) this is the worst possible draw for everybody in that quarter. only 67kg Greco was as bad as this. if I had to name 7 candidates for the gold medal. 5 of them are here (+ Bajrang and Khinch) Rashidov vs Aliyev in this first round will be the great. and the winner will get the World Champion Otoguro in the 3rd round. we also have Valdes and Retherford in this part of the draw. I see no chance for our youngster here. my picks:
