  1. Congrats to the Serbian users, especially those who are Crvena Zvezda-fans. What a penalty shoot-out! That penalty spot though

  2. It's not just the latest continental championship that counts, it's the average of the last two actually (with the older one counting at only 50%). You can find the calculations on page 3 of this document. This means continental points aren't so straightforward. For example, if Germany wins this eurohockey beating the Netherlands in the final, the dutch will still be "Euro 1" because they won the 2017 edition while Germany finished 4th. In Asia the calculation is even more complicated because they count 3 championships for their continental points (they also count asian Champions trophy). I don't know if India will keep Asia 1, but in worst case I think they would lose it to Malaysia (Japan won't, as they don't have great points from before). As Asia 2 they would be losing 45 points. Honestly I don't think both England and Germany can pass them. PS: by the way, I think FIH has the best world ranking system out of any team sport international federations. It's not absolutely perfect but mostly everything is weighted pretty well, many IFs should copy it.

  6. Yeah, it's strange how you have sacrificed a K2 quota like that. Meanwhile we decided to not have Kozák in our women's K4 boat, because it's much more important for us to get all 18 athlete quotas in Szeged than to win gold medals. The fact that we can have two boats in the C1, K1 and K2 events makes it very important for us to send the largest team possible.

Nice I sometimes listen to a German ska-rock band named Evil Cavies. Don't know if you have heard about them? Here are a couple of the songs I listen to from them:

  12. terrible day, we had 3 matches vs USA on 3 mats at the same time in QF and they lost all 3 of them ! also the 92kg guy was supposed to be the next big star but lost the 1st round to Russia. 2 of them will be back in action in repechage. 2 of them eliminated. but at least the 5th guy. Amir Hossein Zare destroyed his Russian opponent in the SF 11-1. we will have a finalist in the last FS day. but the team title is gone. it will be between USA and Russia. USA will have 3 finalists tomorrow. and 2 more in bronze medal match.

  13. Iranian athletes always have this problem, but only in some countries (USA and UK for example) it's intentional just to make a statement , to show they are the boss or stupid things like that. most of the time it's just matter of paperwork . there is no political relationship between Iran and Estonia (not bcz there is a problem. but because those countries have nothing in common) they had to go through Finland embassy and that took time. actually the whole team almost missed the competition but some phone calls from high rank government officials made it happen. but it didn't turn out bad for Iran, the reserve guy just won the gold and for the second time in this competition he received favorable calls. the Russian can complain that he got pinned early in first period but well you can't challenge the fall. so he was lucky.

  15. It's not legal, but it's tolerated as long as you have less than 5 grams on you for personal use. Coffee shops here aren't allowed to sell more than 5 grams per person per day and cannot have a trade stock of more than 500 grams. Coffee shops can be prosecuted if they do not meet strict standards. People having more than 5 grams on them and/or partaking in illegal trade get a fine and/or a prison sentence. Hard drugs are always illegal. So yeah, this would also be very illegal over here too.

  16. Its normal. Entries close weeks before the event, so we always have a decent amount of withdrawals. In big tournaments, there is always a waiting list to fill those slots and we don’t see walkovers. In smaller tournaments, late withdrawals are normally shown as walkovers as there are no reserves to replace the withdrawals.

  17. Quotas for ... How lucky is China to qualify in both eventing and jumping (sigh)... JPN/AUS are prequalified, so they were already very lucky with that. But even today, they would have failed without Wong's inexplicably bad opening round.

  18. Probably not for that long. I mean, Péter Farkas (Wrestling Olympic champion in 1992) "only" got 5 and a half years in 2008 for having the biggest marijuana plantation in Hungary... after which he became a fugitive, but that's a different story.

  22. Yes, I find it much more enjoyable than bouldering. It also requires a little more endurance, which is more my style. I will say that there’s no feeling like topping a Boulder you didn’t think you could.

  23. Yes, this is a nice classic strength boulder. These are my best type. I really struggle on the dynamic ones. I don’t understand how to do those at all. I’m more of a lead climber anyways

XTC pills and 15kg of marijuana Lifelong imprisonment is apparently an option. @Vektor How would morons like this usually be punished in Hungary, we're all assuming they're going behind bars for a very long time..

  28. sure, but I think they could have tried to go with 2 hands on the small blue handle...probably they would have had more chances with that move rather than with the improbable jumps they tried... however, the 3rd route is also a bit weird at the start, but I think it's a lot more playable than the previous one (well, maybe not "a lot", but still)...let's see if somebody other than Janja can make it to the top...

  36. Some stats based on the above table. Eight nations won all of their medals in Olympic events though only Panama won more than two medals (four total). In terms of percentage Bolivia had most of its medals (80%) from non-Olympic events (4/5). Other high percentages include El Salvador (3/4) and Uruguay (6/9). Among nations which finished in the top 10 Peru (43.6% of total) and Mexico (37.5% of total) relied the most on non-Olympic events while Cuba (14.3% of total), Dominican Republic (15.0% of total) and Brazil (15.2% of total) relied the least on non-Olympic events.

  37. I was expecting a bit more from the first day, we lost a match to Algeria !! probably first time ever in freestyle. but that kid had a tragedy in his family few days ago. that was a mistake sending him here. Parasteh was also terrible losing to Kazakhstan, Firouzpour at 70kg was very close to the final. gave up a 5-0 lead early and had to come back, lost it 5-5 with couple of controversial calls against him. Maghsoudi at 65 wasn't even supposed to be here, he was the last minute replacement because the main guy Amir Mohammad Yazdani denied visa. he is in the final but he was very lucky in QF against Azerbaijan, won the match by a last second caution which was indeed controversial. I have to say the Azeri kid got robbed. btw @phelps great job you recognized our 97kg guy surname which is indeed just Foroutan, but his name is Abbas. not Ali. UWW for some weird reasons always put the father's name for the Iranian wrestlers which is never part of the name. Ali is his father.

  39. As part of our statistics records, we will now keep a record of "Posts Per Day: Top 10" in each year. For the purposes of these lists, we will not include Olympic or TISC Grand Final days as they are always huge outliers in terms of the number of posts. Those Olympic and TISC records will be immortalised in the "Posts Per Day: Top 10 All-Time" list so will be interesting to see the busy days on the forum besides those unique occasions. So, as you can see, yesterday, August 11th, 2019 was the highest of the year (excluding TISC Annual 2019 Grand Final) with 633 posts made. That is also the second highest ever outside of Olympic and TISC Grand Final days. io lo spero...ma se Salvini prende il 51% e si trova a far quel che vuole (e con le ultime pagliacciate grillo-piddine siamo sulla buona strada per stendere il tappeto rosso alla "Bestia"), i guai sono solo all'inizio... comunque, finchè non ci sarà un nuovo governo (con o senza votazioni, politico, istituzionale, tecnico, di scopo...qualunque tipo), il cio dovrà aspettare per trovare un nuovo interlocutore (sperando che nel frattempo non perdano la pazienza)... vedremo (intanto, il vero pericolo di questo buco governativo è l'aumento monstre dell'IVA a gennaio...chissene delle Olimpiadi, a questo punto)...

  41. It's not an excuse. I was just giving an explanation of what they were probably thinking. You are from a multi-cultural, multi-racial country so these things are very ingrained into your education. These guys on the other hand likely don't even think they did a racist gesture, to them it was just a celebration. Also, I think you overstimate how well-informed some people are towards these sensitive issues. Not everyone is well educated about it. The three players who did the gestures are not particularly smart guys, must I add.

  42. Just some random language fact: Benfeito sounds like "bem feito" in Portuguese. It can both mean "well done" or "serves you right". So, whenever Meaghan Benfeito appears, I immediately think about Meaghan Servesyouright. Talking about terrible sounding Canadian names, beach volleyball player Melissa Humana-Paredes also comes to mind. Humana is human in Portuguese and Paredes is Walls. It's like I see her as a human wall or something whenever she appears. At least in volleyball being a wall is kind of neat when blocking.
