  3. Well has to play qualifying against Belarus and Austria. Because China is in. I’m of two minds about this. A team that loses 8-0 to Croatia should not be competing at the Olympics. But China is a huge market for ice hockey, and I love the sport, so hopefully it can help there.

  7. I've updated my pet project about major medals earned by gymnasts from different nations in gymnastics. You can check it on Wikipedia here. I was finally able to find all of the results from all of the World Cup events in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics since 1983. It took me, like, 5 years, but it's finally done. I'm slowly updating the corresponding articles about the World Cup series with all of the results. The one about rhythmic gymnastics is complete, but I still have to upload some results for the artistic gymnastics one. Probably the most surprising information about the World Cup series are medals for Serbia, Algeria, Panama, Syria, Jordan and Thailand. These are not countries you usually associate with gymnastics. Serbia, in special, is very nice to have on this list, since they earned a single bronze medal at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in 2006, and I'm not quite sure people in the country know about it at all.

  8. Ya, one of Australia or Samoa has to go through the repechage and either will be very hard to beat. If Canada fails to qualify the whole of Rugby Canada should be fired xD

  9. We shall make somewhat history today & beat Canada twice in the same tournament

  10. Slažem se sa time Trebalo bi ozbiljno izvršiti reformu sistema finansiranja sporta u Srbiji. Nije održivo da 80-90% sistema počiva na finansiranju iz budžeta Republike, Pokrajine i lokalnih samouprava.

  14. I think that’s still a grey area...I think we might see them as well in 2021 or 2023. It is a highly complicated situation for both though. However, the Holy See is in a much better position.

  17. Fair enough! I’ll just base it off their full approval for 2021.

  18. Right, but @heywoodu would agree with me that it’s not official until the complete an event officially. What I mean about being an observer here is that we could see a and situation like at the 2017 Asian Winter Games, where the athletes weren’t eligible for medals and thus didn’t officially participate. I think your right though, I think we’ll see them in the longer distances.

  20. Ya, in hindsight South Korea naturalizing half a dozen player was a really good idea. Not only did it get them some better players but it seemed to help improve their existing players, too.

  22. Yes, it REALLY is possible. Three nations from Group C can qualify in dressage. Russia will qualify a team for sure. Ukraine will get an individual almost certainly. And that leaves everyone else fighting for the third spot... Until now it looked like Belarus and Poland will be the favorites for the last ticket, but Bugan's 69% from today puts him right on-par with them. Keep in mind that this was Bugan's debut performance of 2019. It's common to see the scores improving with every new show during early season.

  23. Honestly I’m looking forward to China being embarrassed lol. The federation is apparently intent on not naturalizing any players

  25. @hckosice What a result for Michael Bugan. Slovakia could be getting a WC podium tomorrow if he can repeat this. Additionally, he will get 203 Olympic qualifying points for today's performance.

  26. Yes, it's all about Slovenia and Croatia. Slovenia was very unfairly treated by FIG, especially in 2007 when Pegan should have qualified to the Olympic Games, but the stupid rules didn't let him. At the World Championships, the only Serbian gymnast to win a medal was Tereza Kočiš, in 1950, but of course the medal was credited to Yugoslavia. After a quick research some time ago, I discovered that a website credited a medal for Serbia at the 1911 World Championships, but later I discovered that official FIG documents credit the medal as a medal for Yugoslavia. The nation did not even exist at the time, but FIG is so crazy they officially consider it did.

  29. Yes, Serbia is so bad in gymnastics that every medal outside some Balkan championships is stellar achievement. Pitty that he didnt continue with decent results. Actually, even in former Yugoslavia almost 100% of gymnasts at olympics were from Slovenia. Serbia just doesnt have any tradition in this beautiful sport.

  31. Really shocking. As gymnastics expert, correct me if i am wrong, but level of competition in vault wasnt on the highest level? I see other Serbian in 4th position, Jordan won gold... On the other hand, i see Berki, Ude, Bertoncelj...

  40. We're opening threads for the sports that are Olympic qualifiers (direct quotas), plus Athletics, Gymnastics and Swimming. I think it's better to discuss some of the sports (at least the big ones) in their threads, and that has been a request from some users in past events.
