To whom it may concern, (and for the first time in a while I write this sentence not to start a cover letter), here is a very brief recap of swimming qualification after some events took place. Please note that, as @phelpspointed out and as I'm sure almost all of you know, every nation uses its own additional qualification criteria, so this is a purely statistical data made for my own fun. At the moment, 25 athletes have reached at least once the minimum A in one event. In total, considering multiple participation for athletes, I counted 34 times that A standard was reached. At the same time, 121 minimum B were also established (maximum 1 per nation per event, not counting nations where an A standard in the relevant event was reached). With this data, this is the current quota distribution: 13 athletes with 18 minimum A achieved; 2 athletes with 4 minimum A achieved; 2 athletes with 3 minimum A achieved; 1 athlete with 2 minimum A achieved; , , and with 1 athlete each, with 1 minimum A. Other nations having achieved at least one minimum B are , Among the qualifying meetings, the most proficient for qualification purposes has been the TYR Pro Swim Series in Des Moines, , with 27 A standard, followed by City of Milan Trophy, with 5, and Greek and Lithuanian national championships, with 1 each. Hali Flickinger, has achieved a minimum A in 3 different events. PS: Please note that I only have partial data regarding Korean National Championships.

It’s time to celebrate: 38 countries registered for TAISC 2019. March 10, 2019.- After a process that lasted one month, this year’s Totallympics Annual International Song Contest has 38 entries being nominated by the same number of national juries composed of 47 jury members. The organizing committee is proud of this achievement, which includes some firsts like Denmark having a multiple jury member for the first time and the debut of the People’s Republic of China in the competition, not forgetting some jurors becoming fully on board with in this edition. Organizers have acknowledged that not all the credit goes to them, however. The hosts expressed their most sincere gratefulness for all the incredible and enthusiastic support of Totallympics whole community all along the process, which is a true sign of the faith and excitement that this event generates every time it comes to live. Next on schedule, is the voting process which starts tonight, with the host jury having to select their preferred entries to a couple of neutral sources that will certify the fairness of the whole process before 23:00 hours of next Wednesday. As per usual however, the task will not be easy in great part due to the high quality of each song and artist, as stated by the Mexican jury, mrv86. Once this step is duly completed, the remaining National juries will have to cast their own votes within the next three weeks, providing another source for both, mystery and excitement as the host will tally each jury’s points to obtain the final rank and thus, reveal this year’s winner.

That's the reason why the standards are so tough. However, it is possible we could see that scenario. In 2018, 28 eligible athletes reach the standard in Men's 100m while at the 2016 Olympics 24 nations chose to use their universality quota in the men's 100m. This would take up 52/56 quotas meaning there is a chance for the men's 100m to go over. The options would be to allow a larger field or kick out the slowest men whom reached the entry standard. Though reading the documents the IAAF seems to be attempting to avoid this scenario by stating the highest ranked male and/or female athlete will be given the quota which could prevent some nations from just having the 100m as their default choice.

Last year Saint Helena competed in the Southern Africa qualifying tournament of the T20 Cricket World Cup. Amazingly, for a population of 5000, they finished 3rd of 6th nations. They won 3 of 6 games, beating Swaziland, Lesotho and Malawi.

Well, her plan was to finish already after past Olympic season, but our federation president succeeded to persuade her to continue one more season and help her husband Daniel, who became the head coach of the NT. She decided to continue one more season saying she still miss two goals in her career (World Champion title - done, and a perfect 20/20 shooting race). Now it´s official, that Oslo will be her last career races

They changed the URL for the last World Championships. The site is still online, but the Content isn't: https://roadto.de/ However: I know the guys who made this site. They are from a german athletics message board. And I'm pretty sure they won't continue to update the site. It was much easier to update the ranking by PB than do the World Ranking. I don't know for sure, but I think it's unlikely that they will continue to update the list. If they do, they'll probably do a Road to Doha first and start the Road to Tokyo at some Point after the World Championships.

Correct, along with the top 10 at the major marathons (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York) and World Championships. From that link you can also include the marathons that have already occurred since January 1st. On my list from yesterday I forgot to take that into account and thus both Bahrain and China have an additional quota in the women's marathon.

We can always create our own and given how hard the standards are the list won't be as massive as 2016. We just need to take into account indoor events and additional rules for the marathon.

I hope they pull this through and keep the 20/50 distances. Let's make no mistake, this is driven by the TV deals. They don't want to waste 4 hours of TV window for race walking. They kicked them out of the stadiums for the finish section not to interfere with some random morning heats sessions already and now they want to make the event even more obscure than it is already.

We watched a very similar program of events it would seem. I really enjoyed these games.

After many proposals were made during the past days, the hosts have selected seven final proposals, all but one coming from national jury members from all around the world. So, in order to select and “baptize” our little fellow, the organizers are holding a poll, which will be up in the opening post of the contest’s thread until April 5th, following this very simple Rules: Users can choose up to three of the proposed names. The ballot will be secret. The name with the most votes at the end of the period will be selected for the mascot. In case of a tie between two or more options, the organizers will have the decisive vote. However, if the name proposed by the organizers (Xochi) is among those tied, it will not be selected.

I think aiming at 50% of women quota in some sports is a shame considering the number of men/women athletes playing in those sports both in professional and amateur level. Just like having the same prize money in tennis tournaments and then in joint tournaments trying to fix the schedule in order not to show stadiums are full for men's matches and empty for women's matches

Right now Slovakia has 4 athletes in the W National Team (Kuzmina already officially announced her retirement after this season, both Fialková sisters and Poliaková), a couple of juniors (Horváthová, Heidelmaierová, Machyniaková, Smerčiaková, 2 Remeňová sisters and 2 still very young girls, sadly no way any one of them can fullfil the required criteria for starting in World Cup, maybe in 2-3 years at least one of them if they´ll somehow stay involved in biathlon will be able to reach it) + 3 athletes we had currently at the Universiade Chovanová, Repková and Balogová but their level is too far even from the IBU cup. that´s all. the whole full Slovak female biathlon. So as you see the relay at the WCh will be our last relay participation for some time, hopefully the girls will achieve something interesting
