  2. 2018 season has just gone, but 2019 is already knocking at the door... ready for a "new" Karate? well, even if the Olympic qualification pathway is already underway, the upcoming year will give us a completely new, revolutionary world of Karate competitions... 2 are the major changes that will surely impact big time the future of the sport: first, the women's Kumite bouts from now will last 3 minutes like the men's (alleluja! it was time! ); second, Kata competitions will have a totally new electronic scoring system, clearly inspired by figure skating, gymnastics and that kind of disciplines...system based only on the individual performance and not anymore on direct match-ups between the participating athletes... not sure what to think about it...if we get a bit less unfair judging, it's more than welcome, but I don't trust sports judges in any case (it doesn't matter if they are 5 with blue and red flags in their hands or if they are 14, writing their opinion with a small number on a PC )...so, let's wait and see what's coming with this new thing... p.s. and the competition format will also change accordingly to the new system, of course... more details in the WKF press release, which I'm posting just below these lines... 'WKF competition rules amended ahead of crucial year for Karate As Karate is getting closer and closer to making its anticipated debut in the sports programme of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, the competition rules for both Kata and Kumite will see significant amendments being introduced next season. The duration of bouts in female Kumite and a modernised judging system for Kata will be among the main updates to be applied by the World Karate Federation. The new year will not only bring an event-filled season of first-class Karate; Starting January 1st, the regulations of top Karate competitions will be updated to further strengthen the appeal and relevance of Karate's main events in the build-up of the introduction of the sport in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Following a long-time request from competitors and major stakeholders alike, the duration of Kumite bouts will be adjusted so both Male and Female encounters will have the same length. Therefore, from January 1st, both Male and Female Kumite bouts will last three (3) minutes, thus increasing the duration of clashes of Female Kumite from two to three minutes. ELECTRONIC JUDGING SYSTEM INTRODUCED IN KATA Aiming to streamline Kata competitions, the WKF will introduce a modernised judging system for the category of choreographed movements. Accordingly, the decision-taking protocol by flags will now be replaced by a point-allocation system. With the new procedure, technical and athletic performances will be examined. A panel formed by seven judges will evaluate the performances, and scores will be given according to the technical and athletic presentation of the Katas. The system will automatically eliminate the two highest and two lowest scores for both criteria; the total amount of points will be calculated following a breakdown of 70% for technical performance and 30% for athletic performance. The evaluation for technical performance includes aspects such as stances, transitional movements, timing, “Kime” and conformance, while the athletic performance will be reviewed according to strength, speed and balance. All the competitors participating in a Kata event will be divided into pools of eight karatekas, with the four competitors getting the highest scores moving into the next round. Athletes with lesser points will be eliminated until only two groups of eight competitors remain. At this stage, the top three competitors from both pools will qualify for the final bouts, with the second and third-ranked karatekas from each group competing for bronze and the two top athletes clashing for gold. In the event that competitors obtain the same number of points, the tie should be resolved by executing an additional kata to determine which competitor goes into the next round. The amended judging system will be applied to both individual and team Kata competitions. In the case of the team kata events, the duration of the medal bouts will also be modified. The time limit of katas in the team categories for medal bouts will be reduced to five minutes thus aiming to further increase the dynamism and excitement of the tremendously popular category of choreographed movements by teams.'

  5. Yesterday night (but probably today again, and tomorrow when we're visiting the whole family ), with the main part being a good-sized barbecued piece of picanha @vinipereira @thiago_simoes There was also some salad, green beans wrapped in bacon, carpaccio for starters and some sort of potatoes baked in the oven. And 'bell pepper soup' which is not the favourite of someone like me who does not like bell pepper

  6. 2018 was a year to remember for me in terms of sports. It started of with me attending the Olympics, a dream I have had since I was 9! The World Cup brought some good matches and overall we have had some solid moments in sports this year. The year before the [Summer] Olympics is usually considered the busiest of the quadrennial, so here is hoping to more action next year!

  7. Karimi turned down so many offers from Europe. he just wanted easy money in UAE. he went to Bayern only because he was under huge pressure here for being lazy and not being ambitious. he just wanted to show he can play in biggest leagues and biggest teams. he had a good start actually but got injured and never came back properly. only if Karimi had half of Daei's passion for the game or his determination ... lol on that match I was on the other side oh come on, Italy hit the post twice by Gilardino and Zambrotta . Germany had few chances playing at home but Italy deserved it more. btw I posted Iran 23-man squad for the Asian Cup in Iran national thread. Jahanbakhsh is in but Gholizadeh and Ezzatollahi are going to miss the tournament.

  8. I absolutely hate these last week of december/first week of january. I'm on vacation so I have lots of time to watch tv yet there is NOTHING interesting to watch. Only european league matches which I don't really care about and some garbage tennis tournaments. Ok, back to watching series I guess...

  9. today is December 26th...which means that the Spengler Cup and the Junior Worlds begin their respective journey... I'm speaking of Hockey, of course... so, my daily schedule is filled with the first 2 games of the Spengler Cup ( Ocelari Trinec vs Metallurg Magnitogorsk and HC Davos vs Team Canada) on the Swiss public TV RSI-La2 HD and the World Junior Champs opener ( Czech Republic vs Switzerland) on the Czech public TV CT Sport HD... in between, I also watched some Italian Serie A soccer (Atalanta vs Juventus) on a Sky Italia TV channel...

  10. c'mon, man! example #1 is not even a penalty! never!!! example #2 to me is also a no penalty, but I could accept a 2-min minor if the charging player comes really from behind (not from the front or the side of the opponent getting hit)... example #3...2-min minor, not more than that (5-min major -and no game misconduct...I'll never understand why a 5-min penalty must go together with a game-penalty - only if the hit comes from the blind side, which is not the case of that example)...the match penalty must be given only if the hit comes from behind and smashes a player with his face against the boards (because that's really dangerous)... basically, with rules like this one, someone like the great Scott Stevens would have never had a chance to start a hockey career, instead of being one of the best defencemen ever (and one of the dirtiest players ever, I must admit)... bye-bye ice hockey...welcome "field hockey on the ice" (or women's hockey played by men, if you prefer)...

  13. Updates about Continental Qualification Tournaments: Oceanian Qualifiers will be held on 29 February 2020 in Gold Coast, Asian Qualifiers will take place on April 10-12 2020 in Wuxi, , confirming my idea that no other place in entire Asia is able to host a Taekwondo competition, apart, maybe, from Tokyo venue that will probably be completed the day before the first day of competition. Beside irony, no news about Europe, African and PanAmerican qualifiers.

  16. Today i have a lot of time, so we can analyze team by team, for a good prediction...(sorry for my english... ) WATERPOLO M Probabily, 7 european team will be qualified. What are there? Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Montenegro, Spain, Greece...no more. 90% confirmed. WATERPOLO W 10 team for tokyo, 4 for europe. A little bit more diffucult, but not impossible. 5 team for 4 spots, for me. So, 75% VOLLEY M 2 chance: Italy-Serbia, and an european tournament with France and Bulgaria for one spot. Italian team is poor, without wing speakers. But versus Serbia, in Italy, are on 30% i think, and another 40% with no so strong France. Here my 45% VOLLEY F c'mon, silver world championship i think can beat Ned... and in case of loss ther will be another torunament with Tur and AZE. 65% is not certainly optimistic... FOOTBALL M 4 from european champioship, in Italy. We need second in first round, 'cause probabily england will be in semifinal. Terrible draw, i know, but depends witch players will be called up. With Donnarumma, Chiesa, Cutrone, we have good chanches. Without them, we have no chanches. 30% after draw. FOOTBALL W first three european team at world cup 2019. We need many gook luck. We will pass at 8/F. Here, all depends from draw.... We have to pass at 4/f with no more of 3 europena teams .... i hope in a wonderful GER/SWE in 8/F, NED/JAP is possible... BASKET M 7 temas diretly at tokyo via world cup 2019. Only 2 for europe. Impossible. But, 16 next team to the olympic qualification tournaments. With? Italy is now a good team without a center. HAckett, Mannion, Vitali, Belinelli Della Valle, Datome, Gentile, Brooks, Melli, Gallinari, X. 1%? uhm.... BASKET F 6 berth for qualifyng torunament from eurobasket women. 3 spots for every tournament. We have a great team... BASKET 3x3. Italy have a great chance. 2020 FIBA Universality-driven Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Any NOC that has had a men's or women's team play in the basketball at the 2012 Summer Olympics or basketball at the 2016 Summer Olympics tournaments is ineligible for the UOQT, so we will play with Andorra, Mongolia.... BASEBALL M Depends, who will play? Hockey F Japan wins the asiam games, so another spot is free. 7 single match (a/r) will decided. Probabily, match will be with New Zealand or Spain. Difficult? Sure. Impossible? nothing.

  19. Yeah my Arabic isn't that bad Karimi was a great player and probably the best player we ever had but he also wasted his talent because of laziness and his stubborn personality. bad luck ? no we are just bad at controlling emotions. we won couple of matches on penalties in 3rd place matches when there is no pressure. in those 5 matches, in two of them we were down to 10 men early in the match and I understand they couldn't go all attack but there is one thing the other 3 matches have in common which is unbelievable. in 1984, 1996 and 2007 our STUPID coaches changed the GK in 120th minute only for the penalties and that never worked. they were OK with the draw and penalties even though Iran was the better team in all of those matches and had to push more for the winning goal. one of the matches I never forgot is Italy-Germany in 2006, Lippi knew his chance will be very slim against Germans on the penalties, he replaced Camoranesi with Iaquinta and Perrotta with Del Piero in extra time. playing 4 strikers in extra time against Germany when the score is 0-0 was too risky but that's the difference between great coaches and average coward coaches.

  20. the same here in Italy... Christmas is pretty much a Family festivity with religious and goodwill Spirit all around... New Year's Eve is definitely a friends and fun festivity...no difference if you stay at home or if you go out for dinner and the following activities (open air concerts and fireworks in the main square of each city rather than to the "Eighties' fashion" trip to a discoteque)... p.s my Christmas lunch "entry" dish http://www.vissanasalumi.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/img.jpg tortellini (stuffed with ham) with Pachino tomatoes sausage https://ips.plug.it/cips/buonissimo.org/cms/2012/02/tortellini-al-sugo.jpg?w=713&a=c&h=407 some fruit (fresh mango and mixed dried fruit) https://www.greenme.it/immagini/mangiare/alimentazione-salute/mango.jpg http://www.teatronaturale.it/media/img/cibo/2017/mix_frutta_secca.jpg and finally, Panettone and Spumante (the Italian kind of Champagne, but better, imho ) http://www.marraweb.it/mw/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/panettone_tradizionale.jpg http://cantinedelcerro.it/web/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/spumante.jpg p.p.s. now I just can't get through my house's doors anymore...

  22. To motivate his players, the captain of the European Ryder Cup team, Thomas Bjorn, had promised them that he would get a tattoo if they beat USA. It ended with a Ryder cup victory for Team Europe, and here about three months later, Bjorn has kept his promise. He must really regret he made this promise.

  23. Most families in America get up between 5-7 AM to up presents, though some open up one present each the night before. The food prepared in my family is ham, turkey, assorted potato dishes, chocolates, and other candies. My family has coffee and homemade (from a box) cinnamon rolls. Some American Midwest families hide a pickle and the first person to find it gets an extra present. Many families listen to Christmas music and go look at Christmas lights. My family will play games later tonight. I you have any other questions, I’d be glad to answer @DaniSRB

  28. Mexico is selected as 2019 Annual TISC host After their bid was selected yesterday as the new host 2019 Totallympics International Song Contest, Mexico is making early plans to host the prestigious music competition. Being the first country to receive the annual edition five years ago, also as a replacement of original hosts, this time around the organizing committee is better prepared to take on the task. “We have the strong duty to make 2019 TAISC edition one to remember”, explained bid CEO mrv86 “After all, two other deserving countries showed potential of being excellent hosts, so there’s a reason to do things not only right, but as spectacular as we can.” “Five years ago, we could only imagine the enormous impact this contest would have; one edition after the other, we have seen dedication of so many people in organizing a beautiful show and welcoming the World to their respective culture. In many ways, this supports our bid motto: music does not have borders of any kind.” “I personally would like to thank all the demonstrations of support received so far. It will be a pleasure to welcome you to the city of Guadalajara, and share with you our music, heritage and traditions, as I’m sure each of you will do with your song selections. Without much further to add, except the promise to deliver a show worthy of each one of you, I’d like to present once more: México” Mexico... the country you thought you knew Excerpt from Danzón No. 2 by Arturo Marquez Guadalajara, host city of 2019 Totallympics Song Contest
