Oh come on, if there is one showcase to actually show the world what you're capable of in terms of Olympic hosting hopes, it's the Asian Games...and then they screw it up with amateur stuff like this That website...man, it's like they hired a 12-year old who finished some HTML classes, all that's missing is a glitter marquee scrolling from right to left.

  5. we lost to them (9-5, after a mess of a game) at last year's european champs in the decisive match...we didn't even manage to make the top 4 in that tournament...

  6. Well, it´s still the biggest city of the country with 450.000 inhabitants it´s almost 12% of the whole SVK population, so even if in comparison with other countries, it is one of the smaller capitals of Europe but still the country's largest city

Has anybody noticed that the timings put up so far on the schedule and results page on the official site are WRONG by half an hour ?? And what's worse, it's sometimes half an hour ahead and sometimes half an hour behind. For eg, the JPN v HKG basketball match today starts at 4 pm indonesia time but is listed at 4.30 pm on the site. On the other hand, the COR v INA match starts at 6.30 pm but is listed at 6 pm !! Thankfully, wikipedia has the correct timings atleast so far

  9. The flight was good very long (13 hours in total for both my flights). I love the city so far, I was expecting it to be much smaller than it is, I haven't been to Vienna yet so I'm sure when I go there I'll realize Bratislava is much smaller. But I love the different styles of architecture it's cool to see the different "phases" the city has gone through.

  10. The u20 championship of next year won't be the qualification event for conmebol. A special u23 competition to be played in Colombia in 2020 will award the quotas for OG.

  11. Brazilian Olympic Committee wants to qualify 250 athletes for the Tokyo Olympics. I mostly agree with this number, even though I think they're a little optimistic. Archery: 4 2 1 Brazil should qualify an athlete for each of the individual events (and with some luck, maybe even a men's team) Artistic Swimming: 2 0 0 Federation doesn't seem to have much interest in this sport anymore and Brazil got worse in both events. A duet might be possible but even at the South American Games we didn't win gold. Athletics: 50 40 30 I have no idea but I will guess a number close to the last World Championship (39). Badminton: 2 1 1 Ygor Coelho should qualify in Men's Singles. Baseball: 0 Basketball: 12 0 0 It's sad but we probably won't see our female team at the Olympics for the first time since 1992. The men's team might qualify but I wouldn't bet on it. The federation has zero interest about 3x3 so no chance of qualification there. Beach Volleyball: 8 8 4 Brazil will easily reach the maximum quota here. Boxing: 6 3 2 Most of the best athletes from the last Olympic cycles are gone, but we should at least qualify 2 men and 1 woman. Canoeing - Slalom: 3 2 1 We should qualify 1 man (maybe 2) and 1 woman. Canoeing - Sprint: 6 5 3 Brazil has the potential to qualify a full team in Canoe (4 to 6 athletes). As for Kayak, I'm not sure about our chances. Cycling - BMX: 2 2 1 1 athlete from each gender. None for Freestyle. Cycling - Mountain Bike: 3 2 2 1 athlete from each gender (maybe even 2 men). Cycling - Road: 4 2 2 At least 1 for each gender, but maybe even more. Cycling - Track: 2 1 0 1 athlete? Maybe none. Diving: 3 1 0 Oof. That's a rough one. Most athletes from previous cycles are gone and the new generation is not that great. Maybe Ingrid Oliveira qualified, but I wouldn't be surprised if not. Equestrian: 11 9 6 Eventing and Jumping teams, I guess? + 1 in Dressage. Fencing: 8 6 4 1 Men's team (Foil?) + 3 individual athletes is possible. Field Hockey: 0 Football: 36 18 18 Women's team is already qualified. As for the men, it will be harder (only 2 qualification spots for South America and Brazil's under-20 team is not really that good). Golf: 2 1 1 No idea, maybe 1 man. Gymnastics - Artistic: 8 8 5 Both teams have a decent chance of qualifying, but I don't think we will qualify individual athletes that are not part of the teams (unless, of course, if one of the teams doesn't qualify). Gymnastics - Rhythmic: 6 0 0 It's hard to qualify in both events, but with the addition of Continental Championships as qualifications events, Brazil has a shot in groups. Gáudio is also better than she used to be in the individual event, so who knows... Gymnastics - Trampoline: 1 0 0 Extremely hard qualification. Handball: 28 14 14 Even if our level is not the same, I don't think we'll have much trouble in qualifying the women's team. About the men, it's always 50/50. Judo: 14 12 10 Some time ago, I would say Brazil could qualify a full team here, but right now we're really bad in some of the men's events. Karate: 4 2 2 Difficult qualification but Brazil has 3 athletes among the best in world rankings, which could indicate that they will at least qualify to Tokyo. Modern Pentathlon: 2 1 0 Nobody close to the level of Yane Marques but continental qualification might help us. Rowing: 3 1 0 Probably the one sport in which Brazil had zero progress in the last decade, not even with the home Olympics. But even being bad at this sport we usually manage to qualify a few athletes. Rugby Sevens: 12 12 0 The women's team will probably qualify. Sailing: 10 9 8 5 athletes (3 boats) are already qualified. 8 or 9 athletes (for a total of 6 or 7 boats) are very much possible. Shooting: 4 3 2 3 to 4 men are possible, I guess? Skateboarding: 10 8 6 Realistically, Brazil should qualify 2 athletes for each event (maybe even 3 in Street) Softball: 0 Sport Climbing: 0 Surfing: 4 4 3 Full quota. Swimming: 24 20 16 Like in the last world championships, Brazil should have a moderate number of athletes competing in the pool. It's likely that we'll also qualify 2 athletes in Marathon Swimming. Table Tennis: 6 4 4 Men's team + at least one athlete in Women's Singles (team is also possible). Taekwondo: 3 2 1 Very hard qualification. 1 man and maybe 1 woman should qualify. Tennis: 5 3 2 Dire situation in Men's Singles (I don't think we will qualify anyone via ranking, unless there is massive withdrawals). Men's Doubles and maybe 1 woman (Haddad Maia) can qualify. Triathlon: 2 2 1 1 athlete for each individual event. Volleyball: 24 24 24 Only a disaster could prevent Brazil of qualifying both teams. Water Polo: 11 0 0 Difficult for the men's team. Impossible for the women. Weightlifting: 4 2 1 Federation is too messy and is basically preventing some athletes of achieve better results. Reis should qualify but otherwise nothing is certain (probably 1 woman). Wrestling: 3 2 1 Qualification of 2 women is possible. Total Sports: 35 Optimistic Total Athletes: 352 Realistic Total Athletes: 236 Pessimistic Total Athletes: 176
