  2. No, I think something "obscure" happened last week when we played in a friendly test match. I assume the Moroccan lobbying worked effectively. I started to suspect it already when their fans didn´t booed or whistled our anthem (which is a common thing from N-African fans before every international match) so maybe they said them, let them, and be polite, they will vote for us plus, I see that Estonia was the next and last Moroccan opponent before the WC and also did voted for them as one of the few Europeans

  10. I'm sorry but no, more billions of dollars in spending, more white elephant stadiums, more controversy, would they put the money in? Sure, but why? you don't have enough unused stadiums from South Africa? you will have plenty from russia, qatar. World Cup (and olympics) should be in places with proven sports culture, so yes, smaller countries will be blacklisted but it will curb spending that can shut that smaller country down. FIFA (and IOC) should have a list of approved locations where their travelling carnival can go to (you wont get white elephants in England, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Brazil) This insane spending on events need to stop just to show who's bigger I see you are from L.A like me (where from btw?) We are very fortunate to live in a place with amazing sports infrastructure that no other place really have, let's enjoy what we have and bask in the glory of the upcoming sport goodness coming to USA

  12. I don't think so, Echevarria will be remembered as one of the biggest legends of athletics once he retires, even bigger than Pedroso. I think it's only a matter of time until he will break the 9 m mark and i doubt that anyone of us will live long enough to witness another man jumping 9 m, so you guys better follow all his competitions very closely, because history is about to be rewritten. Another thing that amazes me is how many talented athletes Cuba produces in triple/long jump and boxing/wrestling, not to mention their talent production in baseball ...

  17. I've been away from here for a bit, but there was a lot of Athletics news for team Lithuania. Andrius Gudžius broke his PB two times and it's 69.59 now. Adding to that, he won one diamond league meeting and placed 2nd in two others. Airinė Palšytė is starting her season soon after a long hiatus. Two Lithuanian records were broken, both more than 20+ years old: 1500m. Simas Bertašius 3:40.41 and 200m. Agnė Šerkšnienė 23.21. Agnė has also ran 400m. in 51.32 bringing her up to second in the European ranking and a potential medalist at ECH with only her second competitive season after giving birth. On top of that, Athletics level is rising in our country as many youth and junior records are being broken left & right and center in disciplines such as 100m/200m. women, men and women discus, 800m. boys, pole vault boys and girls, men's shot put, women's 400m. Hurdles, Heptathlon, Decathlon and others. On top of that, there are still more senior records that are in danger for this season, not counting the ones that have already been improved: Men's marathon, women's 400m., women's triple jump, hammer throw, race walk 20/50km and some less likely ones such as men's/women's javelin throw, women's high jump.

  21. years spent watching this sport (search for Seoul 1988 scandals or London 2012 matches between Cuba and Iran in the men's -91kg or the superheavyweight final between Cammarelle and Joshua or all of Tischchenko's bouts in Rio 2016...just to name the most evident scandals, but in the "minor" events it's always a lot worse)... and the fact that almost regularly refs and judges are caught while accepting money or other favors to take their decisions and/or fired by AIBA itself because of their proven corruption... last but not least, just read all the stories about the Azery Company and former AIBA president Wu Ching-Kuo or, even more scary, who's the real "owner" of AIBA right now (the infamous criminal from Uzbekistan Gafur Rakhimov)... then, if someone still wants to trust Santa Claus (or the Earth being flat)...well, I can't do anything to change those opinions...
