OlympicsFan 782 Posted April 13, 2021 #111 Share Posted April 13, 2021 In swimming i feel pretty comfortable predicting the following medalists: Women: Ledecky (400/800/1500 free) Quadarella (1500 free) Titmus (400 free) MacNeil (100 fly) King (100 breast) Smith (100/200 back) McKeown (100/200 back) Ye Shiwen (200/400 IM) USA (all relays) Australia (all relays) Canada (medley relay/400 free relay) Men: Dressel (50/100 free/100 fly) Chalmers (100 free) Paltrinieri (800 free) Wellbrock (1500 free) Peaty (100 breast) Sato (200 breast) Chupkov (200 breast) Rylov (200 back) Milak (100/200 fly) Seto (200 fly/200/400 IM) USA (400 free relay/medley relay) Russia (all relays) GB (medley relay) Australia (800 free relay) Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached. Very grim looking. It's also telling that it's pretty much the same people that had chances 5 years ago, only that older and in decline. We haven't been able to develop a single new world class athlete. Even Chile has bigger chances than us, embarassing. Usually it takes an embarrassing result to do something....so here is hoping the future is bright. I also never understood how Argentina does well in a lot of team sports but the success is less in individual. Is funding targeted at team sports? She just posted a 2:20 at their Olympic Trials and is a current world championship medalist too. She could well win the gold there and a grab another medal in the 100m. Griff88 1,735 Posted April 14, 2021 #119 Share Posted April 14, 2021 I think realistically we can get at most 3-4 medals... Badminton - men's doubles (hopefully Ahsan/Setiawan) > best gold chance Badminton - women's doubles Badminton - mixed doubles Weightlifting - Eko Yuli Irawan
