Would be sad to see Saina play qualifiers, looks like she will also get automatic spot. But would be happy if she is put through qualifiers and fair field is presented in all. Saina is 2nd best but better to play few matches and get it through amongst our 2nd level players.

All good things must come to an end. The badminton revolution in India started from Saina Nehwal and she has a legacy. Hope she retires gracefully and her legacy remains intact

Revolution which led to birth of Saina was Aparna and in men's it was Gopi, But the ultimate of all was success of Prakash. Not taking anything away from the present generation idol surely would be Saina. next generation idol would be PVS. its each generation which takes forward from the previous generation. Gopi n Prakash academy is the backbone of Indian badminton. If we need more success we need crazy n dedicated coaches like Gopi.

Even Treesa/Gayatri are also automatic don't see Ashwini/Sikki getting that spot. That clause is put to put them in automatically and to make Ash/Sikki play qualifiers. Technically also Treesa/gayatri are at present our top WD pair in terms of performance in recent times.

To be frank, Treesa/Gayatri have not done enough to get automatic spot. But they and Ashwini/Sikki should not have much problem in qualifiers. Specially since Tanisha/Rutuparna have split.

My team:

MS: Lakshya, Srikanth, Prannoy, Mithun

MD: Satwik-Chirag, Arjun-Kapila, Krishna-Vishnu

WS: Sindhu, Malvika, Anupama, Aakrishi, Ashmita

WD: Treesa/Gayathri, Ashwini/Sikki, Tanisha

Saina not being there would be a sad story indeed. though it was inevitable but not like this.

I agree with this team . But women's singles is a bit open and I'll go with Unnati Hooda and maybe Aditi Bhat/Tasnim  instead of Ashmita and Akarshii who can't even smash properly.

Also not sure there will be 5 + 5 in women it could be 4+6 too with Ashwini Bhat - Shika the 3rd pair though I don't like it.

Also to note is CWG

MS : 2 or 3 Sen, Shrikanth and / or 1 more

WS :2 OR 3 (Sindhu , Anupama and/or 1 more)

XD : 1 (Tanisha /Ishaan OR Arjun /Treesa or Ashwini/Satwik )

MD: 1 (Satwik/Chirag)

WD : 1 (Treesa/Gayathri)

5 men + 5 women can be selected for CWG. So accordingly permutations.
