Ivorian rugby player Max Brito has passed away. Sadly he's mostly remembered for a tragic incident at the 1995 World Cup match against Tonga, where after a few minutes of play he got a very unfortunate hit which left him being unable to move anything but his head, torso and one arm.

I didn’t grew up watching football, so my first introduction to him was the London 2012 closing ceremony. The reaction to him just being there is such a great example of the mark he left on sports. What a sad headline to read today :(

“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair” - Nelson Mandela

Only recently got to know more about what kind of a person he was outside of football by the way. A shame I came across that so shortly before his death, because now he's in my mind as a rather shitty person so I'll try to look at him as a great football player and nothing more or less :p
