heywoodu 13,547 Posted January 23, 2020 #21 Share Posted January 23, 2020 Clovis Kamzong won the 4th stage in La Tropicale, which could very well be the first ever pro victory for a rider from Cameroon https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/la-tropicale-amissa-bongo/2020/stage-4 If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! heywoodu 13,547 Posted January 25, 2020 #23 Share Posted January 25, 2020 About freaking time he won a stage there He has finished top-10 in 19 (!) stages there, including eight 2nd or 3rd places, but without ever winning a race - and no, it's generally not a very strong field. Also Algeria's first ever stage win in the Bongo, about time. heywoodu 13,547 Posted January 26, 2020 #24 Share Posted January 26, 2020 Richie Porte did NOT win the final Tour Down Under stage After 6 consecutive wins on Willunga Hill, he now came in only 2nd (and still won the overall) Matthew Holmes of Lotto-Soudal won the final stage, quite a big surprise for the World Tour rookie. heywoodu 13,547 Posted January 26, 2020 #25 Share Posted January 26, 2020 In the Bongo Natnael Tesfatsion showed he, like most African riders, still has a whole lot to learn in terms of tactics...throwing away the GC win by one second because of not paying attention in the intermediate sprints https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/la-tropicale-amissa-bongo/2020/stage-7 If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! I'm talking about the ones who are from countries where more and more are getting in the bigger teams, like Eritrea. They are in it to be a pro cyclist, not just to compete in those championships. Obviously it's still early days for African cycling, but they really do need to learn those things, especially if we want to see an African win a race like this. heywoodu 13,547 Posted January 29, 2020 #28 Share Posted January 29, 2020 Remco Merckx thrashed around the entire competition in the 3rd stage of the Vuelta a San Juan, a 15k individual time trial. Filippo Ganna was the only one in the entire field (which admittedly isn't incredibly strong) who was not humiliated. https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/vuelta-ciclista-a-la-provincia-de-san-juan/2020/stage-3 If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated!
