Thank God for Jesse Owens. I bet the modern day progressives would like to wipe the Berlin OG from everyone's memory but that would mean wiping out Jesse Owens as well. And that would be a big no-no in wake of the BLM hysteria. You can't remove the first black athlete celebrity from history no matter what. And this means Berlin OG will stay. Funnily enough I watched a documentary on Sohn Kee-chung a couple of months ago and that's another reason Berlin OG will live on in memory.

If anyone should apologize for Berlin 1936 it's Great Britain and their appeasement policy plus USA and their isolationism. Both of these policies led to absolute nowhere. Of course even if Germany was stopped in the 30s, Stalin would have probably started WWII ca. 1941-43 anyway but that belongs to a different section.

Yes, funny how nobody cries over the truly racist organization of Saint Louis 1904.

Yes, the 1936 were shadowed by Nazi propaganda; so were the 1968 with the Tlatelolco massacre, the 1980 with good old Soviet cheating, the 1996 who were a huge Coke fest and so on.

Yet each and every single of those editions had their moments. Remembering Berlin edition just because the Nazi propaganda simple hinder such stories of true Olympic spirit like the story behind Jesse Owens and Lutz Long friendship; Owens own achievements which were "diplomatically" recognized by Hitler, while being snubbed by FDR, and meanwhile, the Democratic party was ruling the Southern US states with Jim Crow laws; the first relay of the Olympic flame and so on.

But of course, let's just please those who think they're so correct in their popular views.

It’s half Olympic related and half not, but an auction house in Cannes(France) has managed to sell the Original design for the Olympics that was made and signed by Pierre de Coubertin, for 185,000€ To a Brazilian Collector

Btw I can tell you that over here The 1936 Berlin Olympic Games are a subject that is pushed to be talked in order for things to never happen again so in Israel I can tell you that no one really cried over the post.

The Berlin Olympics also brought us the story of Dora Ratjen which has become yet again relevant  over the last years

That went for quite a bit more than it was forecast to. Auctioneers thought it would be won around 100,000.

I would be interested in literally anybody else hosting.

Qatar really doesn't have a great record when it comes to major events.

hopefully, we already have a serious bid (Gold Coast)...:fingers:

Those plans have been put on hold right now, until the Australian government can see what the aftermath of this pandemic looks like.
