Well, after the removal of the C2, this happened to be our only strong canoeing slalom event, so all our hopes and supports are going to be moved on this.

 

 

 

Hard to say. All 3 are really close in the qualifying ranking after 2 events.

Sometimes It feels like this internal qualification is much more dramatic and epic than the Olympics race itself

 

True that. The C2 removal is a huge shame. Nobody wants to race in this category anymore. 

 

Anyways the internal qualification.... Something like K1 Men in Czech. The competition there is enormous.

On the one hand, the lack of Beňuš would be a great loss, and on the other hand, the start of the Olympic Games by Martikán would be the perfect culmination of the career. If you had to decide who you bet on @hckosice ?

Right, the M K1 is one great Czech show right now, Vít Přindiš, Jiří Prskavec, Ondřej Tunka  and Vavřinec Hradílek every one of them can win gold in any event any day

Personally I'd give it to Sašo Slafkovský, he was never at the Olympics, but definitely deserve it so much, he was competing at the very top level since the early 2000´s but always lost the quota to Martikán and before Rio just by a few to Beňuš. + Currently, I would say Slafkovský would be our best chance to medal, since he has arguably the best results and showing the best technique lately. and he´s such a humble and positve guy.

Am completely a novice in this sports, why did all Indian teams except k2 DNF..... I think this is the first we are competing

One of the girls from the W K1 team did not finished the race, resulting in a DNF of the whole team. It was not clear from the video but it looks like she sadly hit the rocks on the board before turning to one of the upstream gates in the bottom and probably have broken her boat

 

India already competed last year If I remember correctly

The journeys of Indian canoeists and canoeists looked tragic. I mean skipping goals or hitting them centrally. In addition, they made a lot of technical mistakes. You have to be forgiving and keep your fingers crossed to work on further development.

For us, it is digging holes under rivals. This was the case even during the Polish championships in K1, where Mateusz Polaczyk did poorly in the eliminations, which meant he had to fight Krzysztof Majerczak. The latter was the best in the qualifying rounds, and Polaczyk was 7. Then it was decided to cancel the second run or in this situation the qualifying round was considered as a qualification. This meant that he almost lost his chance to qualify for the team, which would be a great sensation. The main reason for canceling the second passage was a blocked sluice, but as the photo by Grzegorz Polaczyk (team coach and Mateusz's brother) shows. On Facebook Grzegorz Polaczyk described the situation as follows: "Interesting. Today, the technical manager and main referee in the presence of the Polish Canoe Association authorities decided that the qualifying competition for the Polish National Team ends only on the first run of two planned rides, the reason for the blocked sluices? !! (second the ride was to be an elimination ride to the Polish National Team but you have to show Mateusz Polaczyk that his place is out of the national team. Do not help him develop his talent until he destroys himself) the totally blocked sluices can be seen in the attached photo !! (photo taken 15 minutes after making the above decision )Congratulations on your decision !! and I wish you the best and great successes of Polish mountain canoeists led by people of good will, such as Mr. Bogdan Popiela.Ps. Mateusz Polaczyk, undisputedly the most titled mountain kayaker in Polish history, has so far achieved more than all other Polish canoeists combined. I think we are getting better at canoeing sprints but slalom seems to be a bridge to far, I think it requires specialised infrastructure which I think is almost completely absent.........
