You can still vote in Poll #8.

But here comes Poll #9 already.

These are olympic champions in certain events.

Imagine that all these champions are on the top of their game at the very same moment in time.

Who would have won gold?

Be aware that the voting ends on Saturday March 19th, 8 p.m. CET.

These pollls are like event start lists, who would win, what you think?

As I wrote here earlier, I think the best solution for the team sports (like women's hockey), for the purpose of these polls, will be that we won't compare two or more gold medal olympic teams from one NOC with each other.

Instead, we can think which NOC which has previously won at least one gold in certain team sport event should win in our imaginary games.

And that means we could think of e.g. Australia women's hockey team for our imaginary games as a team of all the best players from Seoul 1988, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 teams altogether.

This could be interesting.

Below you can find our results summary and medal table.

Let's vote then!

Although Netherlands is the greatest team in women's hockey olympic history I voted Australia because I can't stand to see them with the same votes as Zimbabwe's flukey gold medal win. :p they are clear for 2nd place, extremely dominant in Atlanta and Sydney.

From Wikipedia

Takács was born in Budapest and joined the Hungarian Army. By 1936, he was a world-class pistol shooter, but he was denied a place in the Hungarian shooting team for the 1936 Summer Olympics on the grounds that he was a sergeant, and only commissioned officers were allowed to compete. This prohibition was lifted in Hungary after the Berlin Games, and Takács had expectations of success at the 1940 Summer Olympics, scheduled to be held in Tokyo.

During army training in 1938, his right hand was badly injured when a faulty grenade exploded. Takács was determined to continue his shooting career, and switched to shooting with his left hand. He practiced in secret, surprising his countrymen when he won the Hungarian national pistol shooting championship in the spring of 1939. He also was a member of the Hungarian team that won the 1939 UIT World Shooting Championships in the event.

I thought switching hands was impressive which is why I voted for Takács in rapid fire pistol. :p

Stopped watching sports, there are better things in life.

@phelps where are you? :-)

voting ends today at 8 p.m. CET

I'm back!

Unfortunately I was stuck without internet connection in the past couple of days...

Luckily, the problem has just been fixed by my internet provider...:d

my picks in this poll, however, are quite obvious, as in all of this events we have established no.1...

women's Field Hockey...even if AUS were really dominant in the late Nineties/early 2000's, I chose :NED the Netherlands, because they've been the true owner of the game in the last 20 years, and sometimes they've been really untouchable...

men's Archery...I pick :USA Darrell Pace, arguably the best man ever to practice this sport...

men's Rapid Fire Pistol is actually a no brainer...:GER Ralf Schumann is "the shooter" par exellence...

women's Triathlon...I've never seen anybody as dominant as :USA Gwen Jorgensen when she was on top of her game...therefore, she's my pick...

finally, men's Golf...I think the sport is too young (in Olympic terms) to express a truly qualified vote, however, :GBR Justin Rose is surely the best golfer overall among those who won an Olympic Gold, so, he's my pick...
