Kelly Deguchi (-52kg) doesn’t fare as well as her sister, with a first round defeat to Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (AZE) 0-1. Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard (-63kg) won her bronze medal after defeating Lubjana Piovesana (AUS) 10-0. In the semifinals, she lost 10-0 to Ketelyn Quadros (BRA). François Gauthier Drapeau (-81kg) won his bronze medal, defeating Sharofidden Boltaboev (UZB) 10-0. In the quarterfinals he lost 10-0 to Alpha Oumar Djalo (FRA), but rebounded soon after to defeat Jose Maria Mendiola Izquieta (ESP) 10-0, and advance to the bronze medal contest. Arthur Margelidon (-73kg) lost in the third round 10-0 to Adil Osmanov (MDA). Antoine Bouchard (-73kg) lost in the first round 10-0 to Hassan Doukkali (MAR). (Canada sure loves bronze ) Kyle Reyes (-100kg) won Canada’s only medal of the day, defeating Simeon Catherina (NED) 11-0 in the bronze medal contest. Earlier, he suffered a 1-0 quarterfinals loss to Daniel Eich (SUI), but rebounded soon after defeating Anton Savytskiy (UKR) 11-0 in his repechage match. Shady El Nahas (-100kg) finished 7th, after an 11-0 quarterfinals loss to Aaron Fara (AUT), and a 10-0 repechage loss to Nurlykhan Sharkhan (KAZ). Louis Krieber Gagnon (-90kg) lost in the second round 10-0 to Noël van ‘t End (NED). They finished the event with one silver medal, and three bronze medals.
