And yeah... It's bad. For stupid reasons, the FEI keeps insisting on raising the minimum eligibility score in dressage.

For Tokyo, it was raised from 64% to 66%. 64% was used for Beijing, London and Rio. Now they have raised it *again* to 67%. And that's despite the proposal to keep it at 66%, which was dismissed by saying the "increase was correct in relation to the current competition level". Hilarious thing to say after two years of an umprecedented pandemic.

That's a weak excuse. The MER should be focused on safety not talent (unless they want to admit to "score inflation"). They're just trying to exclude the Group F team or individual riders without outright saying it.

Lists of international events for 2023 have appeared on the FEI calendar. These hold implications for the Olympic rankings, but the calendar is still TBC.

Curiously, both Colombia and South Africa are set to host a number of 4* eventing competitons. Especially South Africa is bound to host *a lot* of them. Doors to Paris are instantly left wide open.

But first let's see if FEI will play along. Traditionally they are not big fans of high level competitions popping out of nowhere in the OQ season.

Russia and Belarus have submitted international events to the 2023 calendar as well... But these have been promptly shut down and the ban has been extended too.

Effectively this removes them out of Paris 2024 whatever happens from now on. Well, most certainly in eventing as their points farming events have been axed at last. :bye: Excellent news for the likes of Lithuania, Hungary, Estonia.

Ranking rules have been revealed.

No big changes in dressage. Notably, results from the Short Grand Prix will count this time.

No changes at all in eventing despite some earlier rumors about a more fair ranking system coming into play. Oh well.

Most notable change in jumping is a significant reduction in points for the competitions with less than 15 entrants.

Ranking events for dressage have been revealed.

It's mostly the same events which are happening annually. Looks like Brazil learned their lesson. They have several home events listed so keeping the team quota should not b a problem this time. Curiously, Mexico is set to host several events and there is even one in Uzbekistan.

And finally the eventing calendar.

A lot of events in South America this time (but curiously no Brazil) and a lot in South Africa too... Hopes are high.

Watch out for Bulgaria snatching the quota in Romanian events. They have a promising rider coming through ranks.
