It's not like @Olympian1010 voting green would mean much. No chance that the dems lose California.

Yeah true, his vote may be meaningless, but it’s the millions of Sanders supporters in swing states with the exact same attitude that will lead to four more years of Trump

You know you're going down the wrong path when you're looking at someone's skin colour and/or gender to decide who will be your VP. And that goes both ways.

He has to choose whoever is best for the job, no matter if they're white, black or pink or a man, woman or Apache attack helicopter.

Unfortunately that’s not how US politics works.

I’m not a “Bernie Bro.” I didn’t go around the internet shit talking people. I wasn’t actually the biggest fan of Bernie, but his politics, were my politics. I would support a Warren candidacy in a heartbeat too. I’ve come to realize that the Democratic Party no longer represents my politics or morals. While I realize my move may help elect Trump again, it may help me achieve my goals in the long run. Should I not vote/register for the party that truly matches my politics (which is actually probably the Peace and Freedom Party, but they’re a little crazy even for me)?

I would just ask you to consider how exactly 4 more years of Trump and unchecked conservative government moves you any closer to your goals?

The Presidential Candidate of the US Green Party tweeted this out today.

I’ll probably vote Green to try and help get them federal benefits to strengthen their position, and hopefully make them a viable third party choice one day.

You Bernie Bros will just never get it will you. Enjoy four more years of Trump.

Every day makes me fall in love with Trump more and more.   Hopefully in 2024 his son runs.   There really shouldn't be any other president in America that doesnt have the last name of Trump

Ok, this is the post. You're definitely trolling.

Oh i'm not triggered, i'm never triggered, i'm not a liberal. We control the white house, the senate, have great economy, we are enjoying life under trump. No reason to get triggered really.

This is funny since Donald Trump is the most easily triggered man in America. He freaked out just a week ago because a Canadian television channel cut his cameo from their broadcast of Home Alone 2.

I could care less how he talks.  I care about his actions.  And the amazing actions and policy for the american people that put america first.   That's what I care about. I dont always agree with his twittering.  Or the way he talks.  But I agree with his policy, his economics and all he's done in the past 3 years

You can think that. But remember, 50 years from now, no one will care what level the stock market was at under Trump. All he will ever be remembered for is that he was impeached.

What a historic moment. Even though he will likely be acquitted in the senate, finally this serial criminal and despicable man is facing the consequences of a lifetime of breaking the law and putting himself before others. I only hope that Americans will be smart enough to remove this monster from office in November.

No matter how you try and spin it, Trump's legacy will forever be tarnished as he becomes one of just 3 presidents to ever be impeached. A very fitting legacy.

I find it enjoyable, and quite literally have nothing better to do until “Watchmen” comes on in an hour, so I have to do something to kill the time. While I agree that I won’t change any minds tonight, it’s always worth a shot. I don’t dislike @Maxim Fastovsky as a person, so there’s nothing wrong with a spirited argument, especially when there are so few republicans around in California.

For the record, I obviously don't dislike him either. I just don't think Trump supporters are worth discussing politics with, as they're too far gone of the deep end. That's why sports exist for friendlier debate instead :d

It's a huge problem for the left-wingers Trump is the most Jewish-friendly president USA has ever had. You'd love to throw him under the racism bus however you can't because the Jewish people would grill you. And let's face it, getting the Jewish votes in USA is way more important than Muslims votes.

Yeah, the truth being that he doesn't actually give a shit about Israel - it's purely for votes, as you mentioned. Look no further than his casual bigoted remarks a few days ago in front of the Israeli American Council that many saw as bigoted.

The founding fathers also thought that slavery was fine, women and black people didn’t need to vote, and the natives were “savages” that need “education”. Some undocumented immigrants have never known any country but this country. What about them?

This. Something I never understand about Americans is why you worship a document drafted by men who all had syphilis and owned slaves.

@Olympian1010 I would just cut your losses. You're debating against someone speaking verbatim from a Fox News comment section. It's not worth it. As you yourself have admitted, you are left-wing and I don't totally agree with everything you say, but at least your side does not peddle in conspiracy theories and falsehoods like these Trumpists do. For that reason, like I said, you're talking to a brick wall by trying to debate with this guy.

Now there is going to be a coalition government?

Likely not. It will probably be a Liberal minority for as long as they can keep support, with the NDP and Bloc holding the balance of power. There's never been a coalition before.

From what I read the big winner last night was The Bloc. Also, quite a few political pundits saying that Quebec may leave Canada, and Alberta and Saskatchewan may leave Canada.

Overall, Trudeau stays PM, but with weakened power. I’m also happy to see that the PPC did terribly. The Greens also got a mighty 3 seats :p

None of these provinces are going to leave Canada - but I predict that a right-wing populist party from the West could emerge. People in Alberta are even more insufferable than those in Trump-land in the Southern US.

Just out of curiosity, what do you call the bug, the road next to a highway, the divider between traffic, the sweet carbonated drink, and the place where traffic meets at an intersection without traffic lights that goes in a loop?

Speaking of traffic lights, there’s nothing more horrible as an American than traveling to Canada and getting a blinking green. The shit gave my whole family a collective heart attack.

Firefly, nothing, median, pop, roundabout, hbu?

I haven't come across blinking greens here. Are you talking about an advanced green? Where was this?

I got Reno and Fresno. I don’t get LA because my grandma, who I’m close with, was raised in Kansas, so I’ve picked up some of her slang. Plus, I’ve picked up some of my dads from the NorthWest, so I get put somewhere in the middle of those three, hence Reno.

What about you guys @dezbee2008 @Maxim Fastovsky @bmo @Rdbc @Csapo?

I’d be interested in @intoronto @ofan @orangeman answers too, and maybe @OlympicIRL @Grassmarket @Dragon since our language is the closers in similarity.

This doesn’t seem to have any canadian cities as an option- but I got San Jose, Honolulu and Los Angeles. I am not surprised, as I have been to both the Bay Area and Los Angeles once before, and found that part of the States to have the accent most similar to mine.

I would be interested to see a Canadian version of this - we have different slang, a lot as it pertains to alcohol (Mickey is a small bottle of liquor, two-four, pop instead of soda, etc.). We also say Eh a lot, this is true, but at the end of a statement to turn into into a quasi-question, and not in regular everyday speech.

I’m from the Toronto area and there is a lot of slang used there (they call it a Toronto mans accent, the way of speaking Drake has basically) that I don’t use, most likely because I am white and had a very Western European upbringing.

With Biden leading the Dems polls it's kinda hilarious you'll be potentially replacing one rich old white guy with another rich old white guy though. The more things change, the more they stay the same

Well, democratic socialism only gets major support in countries which never experienced communism and are rich enough to sustain a huge welfare spending. It works well in Scandinavia given their smallish population but I don't see it working in USA over the long haul. Obamacare would be a bottomless well going forward and something would have to give there for sure.

I wouldn't consider Biden rich - he's a career politician. Being old and white is where the comparisons between the two of them end.

Very fair. It’s also super beneficial to keep him in office because he’s a beatable election opponent. Plus, if he’s relected it creates more opportunities for socialists like myself to gain more power in this country.

In the end, I’d probably agree with most people that for the greater good of the country it’s better to see him go.

The irony is that the unhinged socialist congresspeople currently in office could hurt this whole impeachment process. I hope that Pelosi has a handle on her caucus and continues to proceed with this in a practical manner.

Also, the damage Trump would cause with another four years in office would be irreparable - this far outweighs the perceived benefits of your speculation that it gives socialists more power down the road. Impeachment likely won't get him out of office, and so lets hope he just loses next November - and in my opinion, lets hope we can return to a moderate form of governance, I think the extremes on either side of the spectrum will only lead to more chaos.

There's no longer a choice. Trump has admitted to trying to rig the election through foreign interference. There is no use trying to remove him in the 2020 election when you know he's not going to play by the rules.

Dammit! Trudeau is racist :(. There goes the one world leader I liked :(. Time to find my new favorite progressive.

This is a massive over-reaction. The policies his government has put forth over the last four years have shown he is anything but racist. What he did was racist and stupid, but he owned up to it and apologized - certainly more than you can say about other world leaders. I am getting sick of this persecution of people for past mistakes to score political points, but it is the new norm, and will only become even more normalized as we live in a new age where political candidates (or any public figure for that matter) have their entire past on social media to be scrutinized.

The problem here lies in hypocrisy. This is an example of why the virtue-signaling, holier than thou posturing of liberal politicians like Trudeau today is so frustrating and dangerous, and only leads to further polarization and the election of populist figures. For all of the terrible things that done Donald Trump has done, at least he is unabashedly a piece of shit, and doesn't pretend to be perfect.

In summation, this incident shouldn't taint your entire perception of Trudeau, and certainly does not make him a racist. Is he a stupid and unqualified moron, yeah, of course, but he's not a racist.

Another thing to consider is that Canada is a parliamentary democracy - the real issue will be reconciling voting for Liberal candidates who are brown, while these photographs of their leader lie in the background. At the end of the day, I don't know if it is quite as damaging as it would be for a Presidential candidate who is directly voted for.

Well Berlusconi wasn’t allowed to stay in power. Hopefully the spirit of the Arab spring stays alive in its birth place. I’d be par for course for another autocrat to rise up though. It would also follow the international trend of countries trying to screw themselves over that I mentioned earlier.

Yes, backsliding is inevitable unfortunately

Days before the first round of Tunisia's presidential election, the first  televised debates between the candidates has aired, ( first time   in the Arab world)

Called "The road to Carthage: Tunisia makes its choice", the programme was broadcast on 11 television channels, two of them public, and about 20 radio stations across the country that spearheaded the so-called Arab Spring revolutions in 2011.

Tunisia has since been considered by some as a rare success story for democratic transition after the uprisings
