Once again, we are doing a lot less than what the last world championsips could have let us believe....
Same here, thank you very much dead-nintendo-franchise-man ?
These are our worst olympics in 30 years, yet we are going to secure our precious top 10. The handball and volleyball golds are really somthing that we will cheerish for the next hree years to come.
Bring Paris 2024 ASAP
7 minutes ago, Quasit said:After Day 8 Rio: 139/306 events, 64 NOCs with medals
After Day 8 Tokyo: 154/339 events, 76 NOCs with medals
Only 10 more countries left until the Rio number of 86 NOCs winning medals is equalled. It's looking very good seeing as for example Armenia or Kenya are still to join. Speaking of distribution, the US had twice as many golds in Rio (24-18-19) than the second-placed Chinese team (12-11-17). The current Top 3 are finding themselves much closer together than five years ago ( with 10-13-7 in Rio). We might see Japan slowing down a bit with judo finished, although women's wrestling is next.
The Taiwanese badminton gold already guarantees them their best performance ever (2-2-1 in Athens 2004).

I know it will be a lot of work, but have you considered making some kind of Placing Table (1 point for a 8th place, 2 for a 7th, etc.)
For those who don't know, Gracenote is updating its prediction table after each day. Some stuff might seem counter-intuitive like Germany up or Italy down from their day 0 prediction.
The biggest winner so far being (+13) and the biggest loosers (-7) & (-6)

Example:

Keep in mind that in one-day events like judo, taekwondo, fencing and so on, they do only show the first round of course, since the potential next rounds aren't in the schedule by name yet, so that's something to either refresh during the day or keep an eye on yourself.
Thanks, it doesn't appear on the french version of the website...
Edit; it actually does. Let's blame the lack of sleep.
Probably allrealy discussed. But we can't filter the schedule by nation on the website, right ?
1 minute ago, Monzanator said:Okay, the human pictograms are cool.
One guy has to remember all 50 events in the right order?
It's fun, but really it should be a YouTube video...
1 minute ago, heywoodu said:Maybe we'd finally have sports where more people are actually cheering for certain athletes instead of whoever happens to have the same nationality in their passport
No, no one would care
Apparently the imagine thingy was the big secret that no one was supposed to know before the actual ceremony.. Ok
"Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace"
... and no olympics
French TV: And after 7 minutes, we have our first 'between tradition and modernity' point

Have you watched the video ? This is not a per capita table, it's specifically designed in a way so that the biggest countries have a shot without winning "thousands medals".
