dcro 10,172 Posted September 6, 2018 #71 Share Posted September 6, 2018 Good on ISSF to be giving 4 quotas per event. Not too much to be sad about if finishing 4th. #banbestmen

phelps 6,535 Posted September 6, 2018 #75 Share Posted September 6, 2018 wow! what a pair of finals, today!!! in the men's air pistol, I feel so sorry for Chernousov, who led throughout the entire competition and still had a 4-point margin before the last 4 shots... but Jin's comeback was also something you don't see very often... and the perfect ending was the final shoot-off, even if the momentum was so clearly addressed that it took most of the climax for the last shot away even before the shooters did take it... p.s. no comment on the Italian disaster, which is becoming an annoying refrain to all the pistol & rifle shooting competitions... in the women's Trap, we just had the chance to watch the best competion of the year, which did reach the climax with the really dramatic last shot of regulation, with Stefecekova and Wang fighting for the Gold medal... first an unbelievable and unexpected miss by the Slovak, then the "no bird" on the following target (the last shot for Wang), which probably annoyed her enough to cause her mistake on the successive valid final target... and therefore we went to the shoot-off also in this event, where the advantage of shooting first paid off in favor of Zuzana, who won her 2nd world title... p.p.s. for Italy it was another disappointing day, but at least here we got the consolation prize of a Bronze Medal and of an Olympic spot (hoping that this time, after Rio's shameful behavior, our coaches won't deny Stanco the Olympic dream she deserves after earning her place in the Tokyo competiiton)... JoshMartini007 2,130 Posted September 6, 2018 #76 Share Posted September 6, 2018 At the half way point Asia and Europe are tied 15-15 in terms of athlete quotas. Oceania (Australia) has the other two.
AlFHg 330 Posted September 6, 2018 Author #77 Share Posted September 6, 2018 According to current qualification status, apart from Japan as host and China and Russia winning mixing team quotas, there are South Korea qualified in mixed team 10m pistol, and Australia and Slovakia in mixed trap Benolympique
AlFHg 330 Posted September 6, 2018 Author #78 Share Posted September 6, 2018 Does any of you know something about the competition format of the trap mixed event? Is it like an individual event or things are different?

Is it like an individual event or things are different? It's pretty similar, just with two people From the media guide: Each team in the Trap Mixed Team qualification round shoots 150 total targets: 75 targets per team member, divided in three rounds of 25 targets each. Athletes competing in the qualification phase are divided in squads composed of three teams each. They use all of the five layout stations, and they are allowed to fire two shots at each target. Two shooters compose each team: one male and one female. The score of the team is made by the sum of the two individual scores Targets are thrown randomly: shooters don’t know the angle and the direction of the target. The rotation logic ensures that all teams will shoot the same targets sometimes during the round. The elimination-style final consists of a maximum of 50 targets. During the final round, teammates alternate in shooting series of five targets, in the order designated by their coach. Athletes shoot from and rotate on station number 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and they are allowed to fire one shot at each target. After five rounds have been completed — or when every team fired five times from each station — the lowest ranking team is eliminated in 6th position. At the end of each of the three following rounds, eliminations in 5th, 4th and 3rd place are determined. There, the two remaining teams have to fire two more complete rounds to decide the gold and silver medalist. AlFHg

If there anything else, this one should help our Olympic team to return back home with at least 1 medal
