According to our federation, 49ers could be going on water at around 16-17.

:BEL Plasschaert beats :NED Bouwmeester for gold. That's right, @heywoodu.

Buhl came from way back to win a medal, not a satisfying result for him but a good first step on his way to Tokyo. Now Germany only needs a medal in mens 49 and the federation will be able to sell this competition as a success despite only winning 3 quote places (2-3 less than expected).

So far I predicted 5/6 correct medalists today. Only missed Wearn (I predicted Burton). Great day for me.

Posted (edited)

men's RS:X race #10 was abandoned, women's RS:X race #10 postponed as the last 49er fleet race (probably they won't be able to complete any race today)...

it looks that only in the stadium the wind is under control...in the outer courses it's not possible to have a fair race at the moment...

edit: it looks that the men's RS:X (race #10) will have a new start in 5 mins...let's see if they don't abort it once again...

After another solid finish in race 11, Fantela brothers are on the brink of securing our very first international 49er medal.

Two world champions for Holland in about 20 minutes. First Lilian de Geus in Women's RSX and then Dorian van Rijsselberghe in the men's RSX. WOW!!! Both men and women still have to sail the medalrace :yikes:

And here it is.

Olympic quota - check

Medal - check

Gold medal - almost check

Incredible, even in an off-year for our sailing, our guys still pull this out despite having very limited experience in the 49er class.
