I mean, at the time of the European Games really nobody did apart from a few die hard fans, and it never felt like a major competition.. Not in Brazil, probably 99.9% of the population does not know that this competition exists. But that also depends, for example, for our field hockey and rugby teams, it's an extremely important competition. Beach volleyball, however, will probably send an unknown pair or something. thiago_simoes

Well, there are pros and cons. As a sports fan, I would love if Brazil went ahead with our A team in most sports, but that's not realistic for this competition. So I think it's a good decision to send our best in sports where were are not that great (like Fencing, Field Hockey, Rugby, etc), and send young athletes (who can gain experience in a multi-sport competition) for the sports we have a better level. thiago_simoes

No, and even for a nation that is hosting I don't think is THAT important (unless you're Bolivia and can really have an improvement over the last editions). But like @carivan said, the Pan Ams matter a lot, much more than the European Games, of course. heywoodu

For me is like the "Mediterranean Games" to make a paralelism, only the Panamerican Games can be the same of the European Games, probably with the time will be more important. heywoodu

Is logical that judokas like Menezes dont come here (Pareto wont too) but i expected a B team from Brazil, not a young team.....is clear that the brazilian NOC doesnt have any interest in the medal count. Probably we will see the brazilian A team in the sports with direct qualification to the Panamerican Games: atletismo, hockey sobre césped, tiro deportivo, ciclismo, ráquetbol, balonmano, triatlón, pelota vasca, rugby, pentatlón moderno, tenis, lucha, bowling, patinaje y kárate. vinipereira 3,054 Posted April 20, 2018 Author #20 Share Posted April 20, 2018 As predicted, Brazil is sending a mostly "A" team in Athletics, maybe because we're not that good in this sport.
