Luxembourg's athlete is an American with a bg from there. However, doesn't Luxembourg also have strict standards?

Their selection document doesn't even include skeleton. :p

I think they only have standards in alpine and cross-country skiing. Those are different as you only have to reach the international minimum while in others it's a competition to qualify.

In any case, figure skating and short track are also a part of the document and there aren't any additional national standards in those sports.

And men's skeleton will have home boys winning at 3 (!) consecutive Olympics.

Pretty sure that hasn't happened in any sport for a ridiculous amount of time (like, before WW2)... "Great" piece of statistics for skeleton.

Coming from a very well-informed source when it comes to Olympic history:

Quote

Depending on whether you count 1906 or not, it has happened 1 or 4 times, and never at the Winter Olympics.

* ATH Men's Triple Jump was won 1904-1908-1912 by host nation competitors (but not in 1906)

* EQU 3 day event Team was won 1928-1932-1936 by host nation teams

* ROW Single sculls was won 1900-1904-1908 by host nation competitors (but not in 1906)

* TOW was won 1904-1908-1912 by host nation teams (but not in 1906)

The Dutch NOC has decided to scrap Nikitina out of the World Cup standings, meaning Bos ends up in 12th place, right inside the required top-12, and she'll go to the Olympics :cheer:

Does she need to be top 12 of World Cup or top 12 of World Rankings?
