MHSN 3,157 Posted May 10, 2016 #114 Share Posted May 10, 2016 Here are the draws for both men's Wrestling World Cups this year Greco-Roman Group A Russia Belarus Germany Kazakhstan Group B Azerbaijan Turkey Ukraine Iran Freestyle Group A Russia Georgia Turkey Mongolia Group B Iran Azerbaijan India United States ----------- I wonder which countries will take World Cup serious this year, Iran will send almost a full team to both Cups, I say almost because some stars will be missing, the legendary Sourian won't be there in this home World Cup in Shiraz. while in freestyle Reza Yazdani won't be there because of his injury and we may have few more stars missing. most countries were busy with Olympic qualifiers this year , I expect a weaker World Cup this year, in Greco it will be probably between Iran and Russia (Russia usually takes Greco World Cup serious unlike freestyle) while in freestyle like in past few year it will be between Iran and USA unless Russia sends a good team. The event, scheduled for December 10-11 in Budapest, will be hosted by the Hungarian Wrestling Federation. World championships in all 24 style and weight categories are held in non-Olympic years. The addition of an Olympic year world championship for weight classes not included at the Olympic Games will give participants of that weight an end-of-the-year title opportunity. "We are pleased that the Hungarian Wrestling Federation has taken on the responsibility of this important championship," said United World Wrestling president Nenad Lalovic. "This tournament will give more wrestlers the chance to seek a world title, even in an Olympic year. Our athletes work hard year round for their sport and we are pleased to give them an opportunity for more medals."
