Chapecoense call for Nacional Copa Libertadores ban

Chapecoense have asked South American football governing body CONMEBOL to ban Uruguay's Nacional from this year's Copa Libertadores after some of their fans mocked the 2016 plane crash that devastated the Brazilian club.

Several Nacional supporters made gestures referring to the tragedy during Nacional's 1-0 victory at Chapecoense's Conda Arena in a Copa Libertadores qualifier on Wednesday.

In a statement on Friday, Chapecoense said the request was based on competition rules that hold clubs responsible for fans who "attack human dignity."

It asked CONMBEOL, which is investigating the alleged incidents, to make a ruling ahead of next Wednesday's second leg in Montevideo.

Nacional have apologized for the fan behaviour and said two club members were now banned from stadiums.

Seventy-one people died - including 19 Chapecoense players and all of the club's coaching staff - when their LaMia chartered flight ran out of fuel and slammed into a mountain near Medellin in November 2016. There were six survivors.

The accident occurred just days before Chapecoense and Colombia's Atletico Nacional were due to play in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final in Medellin.

Chapecoense were later named winners of South America's second most important tournament at the request of Atletico Nacional.

Albania's Skanderbeu Faces UEFA Ban for Match Fixing

UEFA's disciplinary body has called for a 10-year ban and 1 million euro fine against top Albanian football team Skenderbeu over alleged match fixing.

Skenderbeu has won five championships since 2011 in Albania and qualified for the UEFA Champions League beyond the preliminary phase in 2015, becoming the first Albanian team to achieve such a feat.

The system flagged about 50 matches played by Skenderbeu since 2010, making this team the champion in terms of the number of matches suspected of fraud.

The most useless Football competition in the world, the Slovak National league restarted it´s 2nd part of the season (the return matches) this weekend with the match Zlaté Moravce - Spartak Trnava...

lately we notice complaints of our clubs about still much more negative attendance records in our games. Well, yeah, it´s not that the matches are always "played" in front of empty (mostly archaic) stadiums with absolute zero comfort + the very poor level of play logically result in a total disinterest of the public..but they still manage to put it another level, I wonder which genius had the brilliant idea to restart the season mid february.  I guess it´s to finish the season in time before the world cup preparations can start...oh wait
