Well, even a bronze would be a heroic accomplishment and Agnė is one of my heroes in this sport. The last time we had a medal in sprints, t'was 2012 Helsinki by Lina Grinčikaitė that's no longer in the sport, sadly :( Our biggest prospect is Andrius Gudžius of course, Airinė Palšytė is not looking well at the moment and it's hard to say if she's contending for medals this year. Then we have a strong 20km. woman walker, but Palmisano and Spanish athletes might just grab the medals there, so Agnė looks like the most realistic option for a second medal at this time.

Updated as of 8th July, 2018

 

Šimon Bujna finished second in the fastest 200m run on Slovak territory ever during todays National Championship with a time of 20.67 and became the 16th Officially qualified SVK athlete for Berlin 2018

 

Ján Volko btw improved in that race a new NR of 20.24 :yes:cheer:

 

 

Qualified Athletes with the EA standards

  • Ján Volko (100 m and 200 m)
  • Šimon Bujna  (200 m)
  • Martin Kučera (400 m Hurdles)
  • Tibor Sahajda (marathon)
  • Matej Tóth (20 km Race Walk and 50 km Race Walk) *Obviously he´ll very likely focus only for the 50km
  • Miroslav Úradník (20 km Race Walk)
  • Dušan Majdán (50 km Race Walk)
  • Lukáš Beer (High Jump)
  • Matúš Bubeník (High Jump)
  • Tomáš Veszelka (Triple Jump)
  • Marcel Lomnický (Hammer Throw)

Women´s

  • Alexandra Bezeková (200 m and 400 m)
  • Iveta Putalová (400 m)
  • Martina Hrašnová (Hammer Throw)
  • Mária Katerinka Czaková (20 km Race Walk and 50 km Race Walk)
  • Lucia Vadlejch (Heptathlon)

 

Qualified Athletes with the SAZ (Slovak Athletics Federation) standards

*A athlete can qualify throughout this standard only if there no other similar Under 23 years old athlete in the country that reached the EA standard in the event, but will be still a subject of approval from the ECh Technical delegate
