The commentators mentioned it might have been the best men's half pipe contest ever, and I don't think they are wrong. Any of the top four would have won just about any half pipe competition ever held with their runs.

The women's contest was also ridiculous, something like five women landed a 1080 which is unprecedented. It seems like every Olympic year there is a big step up.

LAAX OPEN Slopestyle cancelled

Due to the ongoing bad weather situation with snow fall, gusty side winds and low visibility at Crap Sogn Gion event organisers have been forced to cancel the Slopestyle World Cup of the LAAX OPEN 2018.

Since Tuesday, officials had been doing everything they could to get the event done but unfortunately Mother Nature did not let up.

Today, after the men's slopestyle got cancelled at first, organisers waited for a window to open to at least run the women's finals which seemed to be the case around noon but incoming fog from the valley dashed everyone's hopes again right before the first lady was about to drop in.

“A big thank you to the LAAX OPEN organisers, park crew and volunteers who worked so hard. We tried everything we could but the weather did not cooperate,” said FIS Contest Director Park & Pipe Roberto Moresi.

The LAAX OPEN will conclude tomorrow with the halfpipe competition. Finals are slated for 13:00 CET.

Ouch, nasty crash for David Hablützel of Switzerland in the half pipe competition at the LAAX Open today. According to reports, he is conscious, speaking and able to move his limbs, so that's good.
