hckošice 13,217 Posted January 14, 2018 Author #68 Share Posted January 14, 2018 Second Ski Flying event on the Kulm canceled The second Ski Flying competition of the weekend on the Kulm-hill in Bad Mitterndorf (AUT) became a victim of the strong wind on Sunday. The qualification at noon was first postponed and later canceled already and Ski Flying was then also not possible at the planned starting time at 2:15 pm CET. After some more delays, the jury decided to cancel this season's second Ski Flying competition at 2:40 pm CET. "We had a situation with side wind that made it impossible to let an athlete jump today at any time. We wanted to wait and see if there is a chance later, but the daylight also became an issue because due to the cancellation of the qualification we would have had 57 athletes in the competition. That's why we had to make this decision now", said FIS Race Director Walter Hofer. On Saturday, Norway's Andras Stjernen celebrated the first World Cup win of his career on the Kulm. He won ahead of his teammate Daniel Andre Tande and Simon Ammann of Switzerland. The ski jumpers can now only enjoy a few days of rest before the official training and the qualification for the Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf (GER) will be held on Thursday.
