In men's competition, the lowest ranked player who won a GS is Goran Ivanisevic - 2001 Wimbledon. He was ranked 125th than but he got a wild-card. So he is the lowest ranked player with title in grand slam and the single winner of a GS title as wild-card.

No, the lowest ranked player to win a GS title was Mark Edmondson, ranked 212th. He won Australian Open in 1976 beating Ken Rosewall (#1 seed) in the semifinal and John Newcombe (#2 seed) in the final both in four sets. Newcombe was the defending champion. Ironically, Edmondson is still the last Australian who won Australian Open. Edited September 8, 2017 by Wanderer
Wanderer 1,597 Posted September 8, 2017 #90 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Good news for Kiwi tennis - if there are no results in singles, than there are doubles Michael Venus is in mixed doubles final, paired with Hao-Ching Chan. Venus won French Open earlier this year partnering Ryan Harrison.
