Jesus, can it just once be a song contest and not some political message or whatever?

Couldn't agree more!

But the thing is, a lovely, sophisticated song from Portugal (not my favourite either btw) won it an then we go back to this. Like, how the heck? It's hilarious though :d

Nothing wrong with celebrating diversity, though.

And imagine that in less than year ago Israel wasn't able to compete anymore because their national TV was closed, then new TV join to the EBU and now they win. THANK YOU EBU for this shit!!!

But surely it can be done with a better song?

Honestly, I think it won because of the singer's condition (or at least that's why it won by such a margin...). So probably once again it wasn't about song only.

Can't they just abolish the jury voting?

they don't want because countries with strong diaspora will always do fine

Surely. Songs have different meanings that could resonate with different people, this year I liked some songs with "messages" such as France and Ireland, but also some others that maybe didn't have much "meaning" such as Bulgaria.

The thing is (and I already said this), I don't think Israel won because of "diversity" or whatever. It won because of the cray - somehow it entertained voters more than any other song. Cyprus could have won but I guess the final performance hut her chances (and, honestly, I don't think that would be such a great winner either).
