SONG SELECTION DEADLINE EXTENDED BY 24 HOURS

The deadline to enter the contest and select an eligible song has been extended until Midnight on the 6th March 2017, this is in order to allow @Jur the Spanish user an opportunity to pick a song since he has been active on the forum. Other nations yet to enter the contest will be allowed to enter during the extended song selection deadline. Once the clock hits midnight tomorrow the entry window will be closed and any country yet to pick a song will be disqualified. I hope this gives everyone who wants to participate in the contest the best opportunity to do so!

It is only fair to post lyrics for our representative Nina Pušlar. I tried my best to translate it in English so you can understand the meaning of song Nina is singing in our native language. As you already know, title is "To mi je všeč", in English "That's what I like".

There you have it, as the title says, I hope you will like it.

Slovenian lyrics

Quote

Kdo je srečen ko te gleda,
to poznam, to imam.
Kdo se trudi, kdo me ljubi,
to si ti, veš da si.

V dan, ki ne mine,
najin krik je odmev.

Ko se prebujaš, vse zablesti,
sonce ki vzhaja, dan zažari.
A to ni dovolj, želim si še več,
biti s teboj, to mi je všeč.

Too-uu, toooo-uu, toooo-ou, to mi je všeč.2x
To mi je všeč.

Kdo me ljubi, kdo odpušča,
to poznam, to imam.
Kdo vztraja ko je muza,
to si ti, veš da si.

V cel svet, ko utihne,
najin krik je odmev.

Ko se prebujaš, vse zablesti,
sonce ki vzhaja, dan zažari.
A to ni dovolj, želim si še več,
biti s teboj, to mi je všeč.

Too-uuu-oo, too-uuu-oo, too-uu-ooo, to mi je všeč. 2x

Hočem da veš, da ti si dovolj,
biti s teboj, to mi je všeč.
Ko se prebujaš, vse zablesti,
sonce ki vzhaja, dan zažari.
A to ni dovolj, želim si še več,
biti s teboj, to mi je všeč.

To-uu-oo, tooo-uu-oo, tooo-uu-oo, to mi je všeč. 2x
To mi je všeč.

English lyrics

Quote

Who is happy watching you
that I know, that I have
Who is trying, who does love me,
it is you, you know you are

In day never ending,
our scream is an echo.

When you are waking, it all really shines,
the sun is rising, day glows by.
But that's not enough, I want even more,
being with you, that's what I like.

Ouou Ouou , that's what I like.2x
That's what I like

Who does love me, who forgives,
that I Know, that I have
Who insists being muse,

it is you, you know you are

As whole world is silenced
our scream is an echo.

When you are waking, it all really shines,
the sun is rising, day glows by.
But that's not enough, I want even more,
being with you, that's what I like.

Ouou Ouou , that's what I like.2x

I want you to know, that you are enough
being with you, that's what I likeWhen you are waking, it all really shines,
the sun is rising, day glows by.
But that's not enough, I want even more,
being with you, that's what I like.

Ouou Ouou , that's what I like.2x
That's what I like.

Well, if we don't get any changes in the song selection, then I already have my 12 and 11 points pretty clear and seven countries that'll get points from me seems to be decided already (just don't know the order). Other than that, there are another 15 songs that have a chance to make it.

First impressions after listening to all of the songs could be described by one word - bland. Perhaps I'll end up liking the songs more and I'll change my mind, but so far, there are not many great vocalists or brilliant instrumentals that I can stand behind, also it seemed like quite a few countries picked songs without character. Sure, there are songs that will probably get a fair amount of points at the end of the day, but there are so many songs similar to them in the contest alone.

It was the first time that I didn't know a single song from the nominated ones, although I knew some of the artists. What was surprising for me is that this year my chart is mostly dominated by countries that usually didn't get votes from me, although I had noticed a tendency that a few countries always did well in my rankings, this year I felt underwhelmed by a few of my favourites.

Anyways, I'll re-listen to the songs at the end of the week and perhaps I'll see (hear) them in a different light.
