That's a very nice story and very sad that Don Charly has now passed away. But he left a great legacy by introducing one super fan to the sport who in turn helps to educate the rest of us sports enthusiasts on here :)

Meanwhile, I've remembered one more very memorable video from my early days of getting to know the sport. :d It's the famous performance of Andreas Helgstrand & Blue Hors Matine that has 17 million views on youtube.

Yeah, they've improved big time. Would be great to see Italy back on team podiums, after a long wait.

First day of Dressage Nations Cup in Uggerhalne, Denmark was held today. :DEN Denmark is in the lead, not surprisingly as they compete with pretty much their best team (minus Cathrine Dufour). Nice surprise came from :FIN Finland, currently in second place. :)

Tomorrow is the decider.

Looks like equestrian events were approved today for 2024 Olympics. :mumble: Also, format changes that include reducing number of team members from 4 to 3 (+ "active" reserve) has been confirmed. Next Olympics should bring quite a few new nations. :d

The third eventing 4*, Luhmuhlen Horse Trials will be held this week. Entries can be found here

Rather a big entry field for Luhmuhlen, but only 6 riders for the home German team. :yikes: And this is technically the strongest eventing competition in Germany...

Participating nations...

:AUS Australia (3)

:BEL Belgium (1)

:DEN Denmark (1)

:FRA France (4)

:GER Germany (6)

:GBR Great Britain (18)
:IRL Ireland (4)

:ITA Italy (1)

:NED Netherlands (3)

:NZL New Zealand (4)

:RSA South Africa (1)

:SWE Sweden (1)

:USA United States (5)

:ZIM Zimbabwe (1)

Go, go :ZIM Cami Kruger. :cheer:

Will mean more nations for dressage and show jumping and make very little difference to the results.

However eventing will either mean easier cross country courses or less than half the teams finishing the event.

There will be more new rules in eventing. Riders who get eliminated at one of the stages will be allowed to continue in the team competition only, if their horses pass the vet inspection. Such eliminations would incur additional penalties though. 100 for elimination in dressage/jumping, 150 for XC.

There will also be an "active" reserve option. Reserves will be allowed to enter at any stage during the competition. Additional penalties for putting a reserve forward are yet to be decided.

Plus, the technical level of XC will be 3* instead of 4*, but still with the same length and same amount of jumping efforts.
