Well, popular votes can be unexplainably weird. Some Dutch company apparently has a yearly award for "Best Dressage Rider", decided by a popular vote, and it was quite unknown Russian rider Marina Aframeeva that won the title. She did compete in Rio last year, but after that she took a break from sport (hasn't competed in a single competition in 2017).

Germany's team horse Samourai du Thot has tested positive at the 2017 Eventing Europeans. If B-sample ends up positive too, then Germany stands to lose its team silver (silver would go to :SWE and bronze to :ITA).

  • 2 weeks later...

Australian eventing legend Gillian Rolton passed away aged 61 after a long illness. She passed away at the same time when the cross-country competition of the Adelaide 4* (biggest event in Australia) was being held...

Sadly, she is not remembered outside of equestrian World. And yet her actions at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta are just about the bravest of any Olympian.

Olympic qualification systems were accepted today, at the last day of General Assembly.

There are several rule changes. Most importantly, dressage coefficient will be removed from eventing starting in 2018. Show jumping about to become super influential I fear.... Collective marks in dressage have been removed, except the mark for the Rider.

:AFG:ARU:BUR:NEP:NGR:PRK:UGA NFs have applied to become FEI members.
