They have a two-pronged attack.... buy the best athletes and according to BBC investigation prior to London 2012, they also pay money to buy some guaranteed golds: https://www.google.ie/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/sport/2011/sep/23/boxing-azerbaijan-medals-cash

heywoodu 13,540 Posted August 17, 2017 #34 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Next Saturday we'll see one fight that can be expected to be just fantastic: Terence Crawford vs Julius Indongo, with a grand total of 6 world titles on the line. Definitely cheering for Indongo, the way he beat Burns in April was fantastic If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! heywoodu 13,540 Posted August 20, 2017 #37 Share Posted August 20, 2017 And it's over within 3 rounds, Crawford wins (huge 'liver shot' causing Indongo to fall to the floor in pain and that's when it was over) If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! mihamiha 124 Posted September 17, 2017 #38 Share Posted September 17, 2017 The two best fighters in the world are still the two best fighters in the world, and there ought not be much argument over the drawn 12-rounder between Gennady Golovkin and Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, although the manner of getting there on the scorecards was bizarre. The sometimes eccentric Adalaide Byrd gave a palpably closer fight 118-110 to the Mexican, Dave Moretti had it a more sensible 115-113 and Don Trella had enough evidence to justify a 114-114 draw. And that glow of satisfaction at ringside might have been the smiles of the TV executives and casino heavyweights who know they will now do it all over again. The fight was good, a draw is not the most strange thing in the world (although I would have said Golovkin should have won), but man, that 118-110.....Byrd must have been blind or something? Did she accidentally watch another fight? Did she mix up the fighters? That made no sense at all..
