JEONGSEON ALPINE CENTRE

Location: Gariwang Mountain, County of Jeongseon

Jeongseon Alpine Centre is one of the 2 Alpine Skiing venues for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. The centre will host The mens and womens Downhill, Super G and Super Combined competitions.

 

Expected Capacity will be for 6.500. 3.600 seats and 2.900 standing.

 

The Track for the mens olympic Downhill was opened in January 2016 and will have the start at an elevation of 1.370m, the course length is 2,857km. The finish area is at 545m, the course with a vertical drop 825m and overal slope average 31.8%

for womens the length is 2,388km with a vertical drop 748m and overal average slope 31.3%

The course for Super G has length 2,217km, the altitude difference is 630m and average slope 31.4%

YONGPYONG ALPINE CENTRE

  YONGPYONG ALPINR CENTRE

 

Sports: ALPINE SKIING

Cluster: Mountain

Location: Daegwallyeong-myeon, PyeongChang

The Yongpyong Alpine Center is a well known and the largest South Korean Ski Resort. Proposing 31 slopes with 15 different lift facilities.

 

The Resort hosted many important events in the past as the Asian Winter Games or some World Cup races. This time during the XXIII winter Olympic games in PyeongChang 2018 Yonpyong (In Korean it means Dragon Valley) will host the technical events of Alpine Skiing. Both mens and womens Giant Slalom and Slalom competitions.

 

The Resort was build in 1998 and for the olympics will offer a capacity of 6.000. Seats 2.500 and Standing 3.500. The course length of the Giant Slalom will be 1,191km with an altitude difference of 410m and 34.4% slope average. For slalom 583m long track will be prepared the vertical drop 210m and slope average 36%.

BOKWANG SNOW PARK

Sports: FREESTYLE SKIING,  SNOWBOARDING

Cluster: Mountain

Location: Bongpyeong-myeon, PyeongChang

The Bokwang Snow Park (Full name Bokwang Phoenixpark) Is a famous South Korean ski resort. Build in 1995 has passed several Additional constructions during last 2 years.

 

The venue will host during the winter Olympics 2018 all 10 Freestyle skiing competitions (both mens and womens Aerials, Moguls, Ski Cross, Half Pipe and Ski Slopestyle) and all 10 Snowboarding events as well (both mens and womens Parallel Giant Slalom, Snowboard Cross, Half Pipe, Slopestyle and the whole program within one large ski resort. The only exemption will be The very first olympic premiere of the Big Air which will be contested in the Alpensia Ski Jumping center in PyeongChang.

 

The Capaity of the venue will reach the 18.000 places. 10.200 of them for seats and 7.800 for Standing. Bokwang Snow Park is the westernmost venue of the PyeongChang Winter olympics. Presenting 22 different ski slopes of which 12 of them mets the highest international standards includig Moguls and Aerials pistes.

ALPENSIA SLIDING CENTRE

  ALPENSIA SLIDING CENTRE

 

Sports: BOBSLEIGH, LUGE, SKELETON

Cluster: Mountain

Location: Daegwallyeong-myeon, PyeongChang

The Sliding Centre is a new build Track for Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton located in the famous Alpensia Resort in Yongsan-ri, PyeongChang. The works on the tracks started in 2004 and are expected to be completed untill the end of 2017.

 

The venue will host during the winter Olympics 2018 all 3 (men´s and women´s 2bobs and men´s 4bobs as well) Bobsleigh, 4 (men´s and women´s individual, mixed doubles and mixed teams relay) Luge and 2 (men´s and women´s individual) Skeleton events.

 

The Capacity of the venue will accomodate 7.000 spectators (1.000 of them for seats and 6.000 for standing). The track will be long 2,018km with a width 1,40m. The altitude goes from 940m down to 800m at the finish.

ALPENSIA BIATHLON CENTRE

  ALPENSIA BIATHLON CENTRE

Cluster: Mountain

Location: Daegwallyeong-myeon, PyeongChang

The Alpensia Biathlon Centre was the first completed venue of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics venues. Established already in 1998 observed final renovations completed in 2007.

 

The venue will be the home of the best worlds Biathletes during the PyeongChang winter olympics, will host all 11 Biathlon events (men´s 10km sprint, 12,5km pursuit, 15km mass start and 20km individual, women´s 7,5km sprint, 10km pursuit, 12,5km mass start and 15km individual event, also the men´s 4x7,5km and women´s 4x6km and the mixed 2x6+2x7,5km relay events).

 

The capacity of the Biathlon Centre is 7.500 places, 4.500 for seating and 3.000 for standing. The venue has 6 different course length tracks, from the shortest 1,5km to a 4km long possible track all 8m width. The shooting range 82,5 x 50 m. was already tested many times during the World Championships 2009 and several important World Cup races.

ALPENSIA CROSS COUNTRY SKIING CENTRE

  ALPENSIA CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING CENTRE

 

Sports: CROSS COUNTRY SKIING, NORDIC COMBINED (Cross Country Skiing Part)

Cluster: Mountain

Location: Daegwallyeong-myeon, PyeongChang

The Alpensia Cross Country Skiing Centre is the largest venue of the Alpensia resort, built in 1998 observed recently 2 major Additional constructions in 2009 and 2015/2016.

 

The venue will host all Cross Country Skiing events (men´s individual Sprint Classic, Team sprint free, 15km Free, 50km Mass Start Classic, 30km Skiathlon and 4x10km Relay and women´s individual Sprint Classic, Team Sprint Free, 10km Free, 30km Mass Start Classic, 15km Skiathlon and 4x5km Relay) also the second parts of all 3 Nordic Combined events (Individual Normal and Individual Large HIll 10km Gundersens races and the Team events 4x5km relay as well).

 

The capacity of the Alpensia Cross Country Skiing Centre has 7.500 places, 4.500 of them for seating and 3.000 for standing. The venue dispose of 2 Lines facilities (Line A for Classical style and Line B for Freestyle) each one of them proposing 4 different track possibilities (2km, 2,5km, 3km and 3,75km long and 8m width). For the Nordic Combined events will be used the Line B 2,5km circuit.

Hopefully they'll actually be there and it won't look like the world championships there again, that was a pretty sad sight :p (obviously my big Brazilian flag at the side of the course will lighten things up though :BRA )
