Timing becomes a bit of an issue. Extending the Olympics to a third week would help quite a bit

That would increase operational costs. The way to do it is perhaps having more sessions per day/reducing competition days for some sports that could share venues.

Weightlifting has 14 weights, you could do that competition within 5 days now for ex.

Another bronze medal for Mexico, this time in wrestling. Still six to win to surpass Nanjing's total.

Good performance by our male canoer, our girl race walker and both archers. Diving start tomorrow, so there will be a lot of expectation.

Close finish today between Argentina and Germany in the last Nacra 15 race, was awesome to watch

5 days while possible is pretty intense for weightlifting, a 7 day program is more realistic. Not sure why they need 10 days.

A lot of the sports using "generic indoor venues" are already doubling up and to squeeze a third sport is quite difficult. Still, looking at the venues for Rio and Tokyo you could easily knock off 2 stadiums. I don't think a third week will increase operational costs that much, especially when you consider that it would decrease the number of stadiums needed.

You run the risk that people lose interest in a three week long competition. Not every sports fan can sit around and watch sports all day @heywoodu :p

I think that our Youth Olympics started and ended with the swimming programme. Another solid medal performance from Teterevkova. Together with Šeleikaitė they medalled in all of the women's breaststroke categories

Do you seriously believe they should sit back and drink tea together instead of playing a few matches and see how far they go?

Well, not that, but obviously not getting frustrated by person with whom you are randomly paired with would be a start.
