A lot of money is invested in sport and the government has committed to increasing sport funding by over 20% in the road to Tokyo 2020. Hopefully this money can bring with it success this summer, otherwise lots of sports can expect their budgets to be slashed significantly. Joshi 91 Posted July 15, 2016 #64 Share Posted July 15, 2016 New Zealand Olympic Committee has a medal target of 14 or more medals. I think this is a good safe target, it's best not to get ahead of ourselves because sport can be unpredictable. Theoritically the team is very strong across the board but it's best to curb those expectations a bit, because we've experienced disappointment before. kungshamra71 681 Posted July 22, 2016 #68 Share Posted July 22, 2016 Portugal's NOC rejects any concrete goal regarding the number of expected medals at Rio 2016. The official NOC goal was to qualify more than 76 athletes (our athletes at London 2012), and that goal has been achieved, Nevertheless, our press states that, despite not saying it in public, the expected goal should be one medal, with an excelent scenario to be leaving Rio with two medals.
