Surfing etc. may be shit, but nothing can beat the sheer arduousness of dressage. It's interesting how "sheer arduousness" can bring some 35000 spectators to something like European Championships on a rainy day. How many other Olympic sports can only dream about such attendence, at any event? Edited January 1, 2017 by dcro #banbestmen
Mkbw50 380 Posted January 22, 2017 #292 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Okay lads from Lithuania and Poland, Discovery have done their sub-licensing thing to TV3 (LTU) and TVP (POL) That's nice. Will Eurosport be able to execute their goal of not having exclusive rights anywhere? We'll find out... I don't think so... here in Italy our public broadcaster is not gonna spend a single cent for the Winter Games (they already left Sochi 2014 in the hands of the FTA branch of our main pay-TV Network...and it proved to be an absolute disaster...basically they only showed Figure Skating and Alpine Skiing, with just a couple of notable exceptions...they didn't even show all of our very few medal winners on the FTA channel - they missed out on the Biathlon Mixed Relay, since they were showing, guess what? yes, you win! Figure Skating!!!)... so, I'm pretty sure that at least for the Winter Games they won't be able to stick with their original plan at 100%... and in Germany (where public broadcasters ARD/ZDF definitively called themselves out from the competition) they already announced their program for Pyeongchang 2018... in GER they will show the 2018 games on 2 of their FTA channels + the 2 Eurosport paid channels + the Eusp360 service...which is always a perfect coverage, but it's still a mostly paid offer...and many fans don't like that... Ionoutz24 114 Posted February 3, 2017 #297 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Medals to be made from mobile phones Olympic and Paralympic medals for the Tokyo 2020 Games will be made from recycled mobile phones, according to BBC.The Japanese public will be asked to donate old phones and small appliances to gather two tonnes of gold, silver and bronze for the 5,000 medals. The project hopes to promote sustainability and reduce costs."A project that allows the people of Japan to take part in creating the medals is really good," said Tokyo 2020 sports director Koji Murofushi."There's a limit on the resources of our earth, so recycling these things will make us think about the environment."Collection boxes will be placed in local offices and telecoms stores from April and will remain there until the metal required has been collected.Members of Japan's Olympic organising committee tabled the idea to government officials and companies in 2016.
