[OFF TOPIC] Movies & TV Series Thread

The latest TV show I managed to watch, and which was new to me completely, is Downton Abbey. There are some boring patches throughout the episodes but also some brilliant parts where Maggie Smith took all the credits. Her remarks and replies were pure gold :d

Anyway, time to start the latest season of Shameless.

the last tv show I completed is the first season of Snowfall...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6439752/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

now I'm currently watching the 3 NCIS series (NCIS #15, NCIS LA #9, NCIS NOLA #4) and also How To Get Away With Murder (season 4), Criminal Minds (season 13) and The Blacklist (season 5), but these last 3 are pausing for a while right now on the Italian TV...

and just as the Winter Olympic Games are over, I'm going to watch also the 2 most recent movies of "Il Commissario Montalbano", which I recorded in the last couple of weeks...

A few hours to the Oscars, I leave my predictions here. This was mostly a disappointing year for cinema in my opinion, and the first time in some years I didn't watch more than 95% of the nominees (mainly because I didn't had the time). Anyway, here's my picks, and I hope to do better than 17/24 of last year - I did this in a hurry so don't mind possible mistakes. ["will win" is my prediction / "could win" is my alternate prediction / "should win" is my personal ranking from what I've watched / "shoud have been nominated" it's a way to remember other notable movies].

Edited with correct predictions. Managed to get the same score of last year (17/24), missing 7 categories. I picked the correct winner as the "alternate" prediction in 6 of those. The only one who was really surprising for me was Heaven is a Traffic Jam on the 405 winning Documentary Short (but it's a great little film and the best of this category, so I'm glad it won). Three Billboards underperforming and Blade Runner 2049 overperforming killed my predictions. Boring ceremony, almost no surprises, and I would prefer Get Out winning Best Picture - but at least wasn't Three Billboards.

Rather interesting choice and it would be huge for Danish movies to have an Oscar winner in one of the "production" categories. Would be the first since 1931.

Watched Three Billboards, not bad.

Fun fact, it was filmed only some 100km away from Tryon (host of this year's WEG - which itself is in the middle of nowhere too). :p
