Wow, Germany :yikes:

First Norway with their first quarter finals since 46 years, now a German stunt and their first semi finals since 42 years, overtime here, overtime there, awesome matches...I like this tournament

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

After the US and Canada, Sweden likely suffered the most due to the lack of NHL players. Typically almost their entire squad comes from the NHL and while they have a good domestic league they still lost a lot of talent. Meanwhile a team like Germany only lost a handful of players.

They are missing all their best players. Would any of the guys who played today even make their best roster?

Like i said before the start of the tournament: This event is senseless and has no meaning, results would be completely different if every nation would play with its best players.

Yeah so? Sweden had a somewhat better roster than Germany, so this is a bloody sensation. The level in this tournament is poor, but still.

there's no comparison between Germany and Sweden history in the sport + also comparing Swedish roster to German , there's a huge gap for Sweden

Normally yes, but Sweden is missing all its best players, they even have a kid on their roster ...

I doubt that any of the guys here are among the 30 or 40 best swedish players.

Still on paper a Sweden C team is better than a German A-/B+ team.

But that's why you play the game

They might be a better team than Germany without its 7 best players, but not by a mile. Its a surprise for sure, but not a miracle.

this kid is a potential no.2 draft pick in NHL , so ofc he's a very talented guy

For Germany, i think it's only  Kühnhackl , Reider ,Draisaitl & Seidenberg being the biggest NHL names
