We might have a case of "free quota" in women's foil at the African qualification. Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt are already qualified. Ghana is the only other nation entered for the African championships this year. South Africa competed at some previous African tournaments, but they might not even enter this tournament for the well known reasons.
