If Italy's performance was a disaster, the GB's was abysmal. Which it actually was. Stopped watching sports, there are better things in life. Werloc 3,125 Posted September 16, 2018 #64 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Second world champion title for Milda Valčiukaitė and first ever world championships medal for her partner Ieva Adomavičiūtė It's a very interesting story how this team actually developed, nice to see them coming close to the results that Milda reached with Vištartaitė. OlympicsFan 776 Posted September 16, 2018 #66 Share Posted September 16, 2018 (edited) Overall absolutely shocking performance by the german rowing team. Another huge disappointment after the horrible results at the shooting world championships. Germany should never win less medals in rowing than any other nation except for GB and maybe New Zealand. 2 golds and 4 medals in total should be the absolute minium at every major competition. Men's eight and womens quadruple sculls are locks for medals in Tokyo, but the other 2 medals have to come from 2 out of men's single sculls, men's quadruple sculls and men's lightweight double sculls. Insane overperformances by Ireland and Canada, on the other hand GB and New Zealand were also pretty bad. CCB 422 Posted September 16, 2018 #67 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Netherlands had 2 third places, 2 fourth places, 2 fifth places, 2 seventh places and 1 eight place in their 9 Olympic boats. A decent result, but we expected more medals. Especially the M8+ (seventh) and M4- (fourth) performed disappointing.
intoronto 4,071 Posted September 16, 2018 #68 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Some very encouraging results for As always the women take the lead for Canada. However, some did under perform, such as the double sculls women (who won silver at the last World Cup). Also M1x athlete also did not compete due to injury. Only 21, and he is the defending World champion x2 in the U-23 world championships in this event. Also nice to see the men's eights back. Although an 8th place finish here, their time was better than some of the teams in the A final.
