As I wrote, the IOC must supervise the competition, removing the sport is not the only alternative to a corrupt competition...cancelling it in November (instead of making everything possible in order to have a regular competition) means that a good number of people have unnecessarily wasted two and a half years of their lives.

Which still sounds better to me than wasting 3 or 4 years (depending if you get robbed at qualifiers or Olympics proper). :)

I voted YES but only because this is a traditional sport and not because of AIBA. I'm agree with all of you who say that AIBA must change...and there are a lot of changes to do... (personally I don't think this federation will be changed soon, same for scoring rules, unfortunatly).

It is total chaos in the top of AIBA (not really something new)...

This twitter user sums is up pretty well.

Uzbek, Gafur Rakhimov, is set to be confirmed as the only candidate to stand for president of AIBA after his sole rival, Kazakhstan's Serik Konakbayev, allegedly failed to get enough letters of support.

The "problem" with this is that IOC have consistently warned members of AIBA to elect Rakhimov, because the US Treasury has described Rakhimov as "one of Uzbekistan’s leading criminals".

IOC Executive Committee will begin a two-day meeting tomorrow where this whole mess will probably be discussed, and possible the future of boxing at the Olympics.

Goodbye boxing, see you in 2028.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

hopefully...

but I don't trust them until I see a official statement (and even after that, I'd always fear they make up their minds, sooner or later)...:facepalm:

by the way, some sad news from the world of non-Olympic boxing...

former Pro World Champion Graciano Rocchigiani died yesterday in Sicily after being hit by a car...
