In addition, as for UEFA EURO 2020 and as part of the co-operation between UEFA and the South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL, a referee from Argentina, Facundo Tello, together with his two assistants, will join the European group of referees at the final tournament in Germany.

  3. Our GM Miroslav Šatan confirmed to the press this morning the arrival of all 5 above mentioned guys. All 5 will join the camp next week

(It is questionable if they will play already next week preparation game against Poland or they will play only the last test match before the departure to the worlds against USA though)

Huge thanks to all 5 of them whom without any questions immediatelly accepted the invitations

Juraj Slafkovský (Montreal) Šimon Nemec (New Jersey) Tomáš Tatar (Seattle)

We are apparently still expecting to add also some 5 max 6 other names to the final roster

(we have a couple of guys in the Czech extraliga final, the likes of Hudáček, Daňo, Roman, Čacho and Hrehorčák for Třinec and in Pardubice Paulovič, not so sure about Pánik being aired by our staff though but especially the defencer Čerešňák we absolutely will need him after the injury of Marinčin in this series earlier)

in our Extraliga final maybe 1 or 2 names can be considered to offer them a try in the camp,

and obviously in North-America (The NHL Play-offs where we have 2 guys we would really want to have in the team, defencers Martin Fehérváry and Erik "Drago" Černák, both are currently losing 0-1 in their respective series with their Washington and Tampa against NY Rangers and Florida),

plus there still the AHL Play-Offs which are strating right now, where we have 9 players involved, in case of eventual early exits there room to invite somebody to join the team as well

Sadly, it appears to be quite late for Paris 2024 though :p

Nah, he always was a monster and a true machine, I remember him doing regularly the Tour de France full mountains stages just for fun during summer preparation :d

I wouldn't guess in a million years that Slovakia was that team. :)

    What about time before 1994?

    Which format were they using?

Czechoslovakia played in 1992 last time as one country the worlds and won bronze. This  10th May 1992 was the last match of Czechoslovakia in history.

In 1993 IIHF decided that Czech republic will inherit of the succession rights and was reinstated in the elite division immediatelly from 1993.

Slovakia was send to the lowest division (Pool C 2 at that time) but our federation succeeded at least that we will not need to play this one and by taking a vacant year (1993) qnd the next year 1994 we can start directly in Pool C1 (as hosts) and also that we will be invited to Lillehammer Olympics Qualification (Which we won)

    This will be interesting.

    UAE with another victory.

After 2nd round, we will probably have 3 teams with 6 points.

I still cant decide which team will advance into 1B division.

But one thing i know. If UAE advances, it would be the 1st time that team from 3rd division qualifies for the 1st division in just 2 years.

Slovakia did it from 1994 to 1996. :p

1994 WCH program debut in Pool C

    1995 Pool B

    Tournament Format

The 10 teams are divided into two, five-team groups in the Preliminary Round.

After a single round-robin series in each group, the top four teams from each group advance to the Playoff Round while the fifth-placed team in each group moves to the Relegation Game.

The top four placed teams from the Preliminary will play a cross-over Quarterfinal game: 1A vs. 4B, 1B vs. 4A, 2A vs. 3B and 2B vs. 3A. Finland will play in the QF3 in Espoo. The winner of each Quarterfinal moves onto the Semi-Finals.

The host if qualified, or otherwise the best-ranked semi-finalist according to beforementioned criteria, shall play the early game. The time slots will officially be determined after the quarter-final games.

The winner of each Semi-Final game will move onto the Gold Medal Game, while the losers will play in the Bronze Medal Game.
