  1. For those who have no idea what this is (like me), it's a Dota 2 tournament.
  2. The next goal has to be table tennis.
  3. I wonder why they've taken out events like 10,000m, triple jump and pentathlon in recent editions. Bring all of that back.
  4. Worst of all, only two medals awarded. Something like that should never happen. What a waste. Some people complain about shared gold medalists but this is worse.
  5. When 107 golds are only good for second place but they really had over 900 medal events back then. Wow.
  6. @MHSN Why is the technical superiority in GR a lead by 8 points when it's 10 in Freestyle?
  7. Aside from the powerhouses, it's nice to see De Lange winning a medal for South Africa here.
  8. Karavus 9-0 up and all of a sudden Bagavudinov found a way to turn it around. Russia is always winning these finals.
  9. Isn't running target considered its own discipline, not necessarily counted as rifle?
  10. A 300m rifle event or running target would bring more variety to the programme but I guess that won't happen.
  11. And here I am wondering where the last 5 years have gone.
  12. In all my observations I failed to notice that the Tokyo games were the best for Bulgaria since Sydney 2000. Well done.
  13. Not a big fan of some of the changes (breaking, extreme canoeing, flatwater canoeing programme looks odd, no baseball) and I was hoping for some other changes/additions but I was told before the programme was pretty much final. At least the speed discipline will be separate in climbing which is nice.
  14. Fencing 1st Joe Choong - 25+1 (252 points) / Annika Schleu - 29+0 (274 points) 36th Alexander Savkin - 7+0 (142 points) / Marcela Cuaspud - 4+0 (124 points) Swimming 1st Amro El Geziry - 1:52.96 (325 points) / Gulnaz Gubaydullina - 2:07.31 (296 points) 36th Ed Fernon - 2:10.85 (289 points) / Maria Iêda Guimarães - 2:32.16 (246 points) Feels like fencing is way too important while swimming doesn't really matter too much.
  15. The gold China needed as there was also a demonstration team event in taekwondo which they won.
  16. I'd definitely name An San as one of my highlight athletes. Three gold medals is a first in archery thanks to the mixed competition at just 20 years of age in this mentally tough sport. But yeah, archery is just second-tier. Most sports will always fall short on attention behind swimming, athletics, gymnastics.
  17. I agree with you there could and should have been "more Japan". The protocol was quite strict here. Athletes had to travel back once their competition was over. Still good to see these games were to happen at all instead of someone's gloomy prediction of a cancellation to come true. Take it from an emotional person but I liked the medal ceremony tune. It did make me shed a tear at times. I got sentimental "now it's over" vibes from it. The graphics didn't do much for me either. I know many people didn't like the tilted London/Sochi flags but those were the best for me. Nothing wrong with simpler graphics but they could have been a bit more special. I think Paris will do a great job in terms of atmosphere. They want to involve the city more and surprise us so there's that to look forward to.
  18. At first I didn't really feel excited. There was too much negativity revolving around the games and Covid, I didn't expect there to be a great atmosphere. Then came the first matches in softball and football before the opening ceremony, still didn't feel much. It all got better with the opening ceremony for me and all of a sudden, I got excited. It was the Olympics after all and the organisers did their best to make them happen. I was telling myself before, I would not change my sleeping schedule. In the end, I didn't, but I couldn't really sleep on the night towards the first day. I checked the first result online and then I got up and I was hooked immediately. Gone was the negativity the months before. And it felt like there were no spectators needed. The athletes created the tension and emotions all by themselves. Literally everyone was crying, over 4th place as well as the bronze. Daria Bilodid's bout comes to mind. Eventually, we got to see two weeks of exciting sports, shifts and turnarounds in the medal table. Many records were broken, many nations had their best games ever (some not, of course). About the new sports, I enjoyed all of them. There's none I would say they shouldn't return. Softball/baseball is one of my favourite team sports now, even if they take a while. Not to mention one of the less Euro-centric ones which is also nice to have. Skateboarding I fully enjoyed but definitely park more than street. I expected street to be more than just a bit of "slopestyle". Sport climbing too of course, and we can all agree on having to separate speed from lead/boulder. The combined format was not the greatest. Behind those three comes karate. Someone said it's more exciting than judo and I can see that. This time, judo felt like it dragged on too much with a lot of golden score decisions. Definitely wouldn't mind karate returning. The only slight problem I had was following the surfing. It's relaxing to watch but on busy days with tons of stuff going on I didn't feel like waiting for the waves to come. It's still nice to have it but it certainly didn't get my priority here. More about specific teams to follow later. All in all a better Olympics than I thought they would be. Sorry Japan didn't get to show its full potential here, but still. Arigatou Tokyo.
  19. Not their best day but also we shouldn't forget Shohei Ono didn't get onto the mat to have his fight. Also some extra motivation for the French to make Riner win another gold after not winning the individual.
  20. Mixed Team Judo was completely avoided as well and most would have gone with Japan there.
  21. On that matter I hope users who have enjoyed the Tokyo Olympics will continue staying here. @vinipereira
  22. Completed. Surely most of us expected rhythmic gymnastics to go to the Russians but they won neither. 23. Cooking, rearranging furniture for another cycle and rewatching stuff.

  25. Many anthems were great here but I prefer Kenya's with their instruments.
