  1. For MTB as a sport, it'd probably not be good at all if he wins, since we'd get an Olympic champion who likely will be invisible most of the time in the next years..
  2. He is back on his bike, at least. Never good to see anyone crash like that.
  3. I wonder if Avancini and Vader are strong or about to blow up somewhere in the race
  4. No Red Bull TV of course, but Bart Brentjens is the co-commentator on Dutch TV I've been sad for weeks that we'd have to watch the race without his commentary
  5. Great that we're getting an explanation of what mountain biking is, including some tactics: "A smart tactic is to first go full speed for a few laps, to gap the competition." I mean, sure, you're absolutely dead if you go full speed for 'the first few laps' (which is at least half an hour or so), but sure, great tactic Also, because of these bikes, you don't lose any speed on climbs and obstacles, apparently. Magic
  6. China and other China in the third QF of the men's team competition now. South Korea easily took care of India, Japan kicked out USA.
  7. Almost time for the men's race Or, as Dutch NOS has been saying for the past 7 hours: "The mountain biking with Mathieu van der Poel."
  8. Meanwhile, prison life in the quarantaine hotel continues after the dinner consisting of dry rice basically, and personal mail being opened by authorities. Japan has been leaving a very bad mark on these Games so far..
  9. Out of genuine curiousity, which part of especially the women's competition would you consider to have been of a high level? Because I've had it on for basically the whole time, but out of a total of 40 tricks (not counting runs), only 14 (!) even landed. That's not to say they were good, that is to say the athlete didn't fall. 26 out of 40 tricks ended up with the athlete falling, that seems like an incredibly disappointing level...
  10. Jean-Julien Rojer (tennis) is the next on the doomed KLM flight to test positive. That's it for the chances in the men's doubles, where they were in the half of the draw where one of the top duo's was already out.
  11. From what I can read from the 'general public' so far, skateboarding has not at all made a good impression so far. Seemingly highly subjective/random scoring (like breakdancing), a very large majority of tricks not being landed, especially in the women's competition even tons of tricks which didn't look like anything above average anyway... Didn't really read or see anyone yet who was not familiar with skateboarding and now wants to watch more
  12. It was getting tight, so some extra points for the Japanese girl to be in 1st Jury didn't waste a chance when she landed a trick
  13. Basically comparable with Kamminga in the 100 breast: to win gold he's not really depending on himself (since improving so much that he beats Peaty, or in this case Dressel, when Peaty/Dressel has a good race is just not realistic), but depending on the other to have one mediocre race
  14. That was a surprisingly disappointing relay final
  15. Titmus doing what she was expected to do, but that was a cool final
  16. The disadvantage of being such an overwhelming favourite that everyone is basically like "yeah good luck, I'll check it out in the morning"
  17. Well, watching live sports does When Pyeongchang finished I realized I hadn't seen a single medal ceremony (and it's not a lack of medals...)
  18. Curious if will win it's first men's medal since Pieter vd Hoogenband, pretty cool to at least have a serious chance for it.
  19. That was a sensational men's final yesterday Today started off alright. I've seen a Brazilian nose bleed rather empty already after a double Italian kick to his head, end of contest sadly.
