  1. People tends to think as basketball as the second major team sport in Europe (and there are many arguments for that), but when it comes to people actally attending games, ice hockey is likely ahead (liga acb is around 6,000 spectators per match, other leagues like Germany, Italy or France around 4,000 or a bit less)
  2. Apparently, there were two cases where the athletes was able to "prove" just that. Basically, you have to show evidence that the amount of the prohibitive substance from your partner is much higher than your own. 3. I'm surprised the chinese KHL team is still around. I would have thought it folded years ago
  4. I see some basque imperalism around here https://www.sudouest.fr/sport/surf/surf-le-landais-joan-duru-se-qualifie-pour-les-jo-de-paris-2024-18801091.php
  5. Sorry, I haven't followed the topic, how the team ranking is calculated ?
  6. On top of the Olympic Village, this is where we stand regarding the new venues built for the Olympics. Stade Nautique Olympique (2019, Rowing & Canoeing) Grand Palais Ephémère (2021, Judo & Wrestling) Stade Yves du Manoir (2023, Field Hockey) Adidas Arena (2024, Badminton & Rhythmic Gymnastics) Centre Aquatique Olympique (TBD, Water Polo & Artistic Swimming) Site d'Escalade du Bourget (TBD, Sport Climbing) The Olympic venues building budget has been set to 1.4€ billion. From the original planing, two venues have not been built : the shooting stand which was moved to Châteauroux where the already built National Shooting Center was expanded and the main Aquatic venue which was moved to the Paris la Defense Arena.
  7. Olympic village to be inaugurated today https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20240229-paris-olympic-village-ready-on-time-as-confidence-grows And obviously, while looking for an english source on it
  8. Do we know what rankings will be used to make the draws of the team events in Paris ?
  9. French team (15 athletes and no relay) https://www.athle.fr/asp.net/main.html/html.aspx?htmlid=6756
  10. First time since 1997 for the men and I assume first time ever for the women.
  11. First, heptathletes and decathletes will love it ! Then, it's actually a very surprising move. Most federations these days are trying to add fake drama and uncertainty for the 5 seconds goldfish generation. Here, we would remove some drama and make the contest much more straightforward giving the better athletes - well, the ones who actually can jump longer regardless of a fault or not - a significant edge.
  12. What this retard is going to answer when a Province - that-I-should-not-name - is going to ask for its own team at the olympics ?
  13. The "hexagon" is a relative early expression, commonly used only since the 70's. It has this nice technocratic, disembodied, touch... not very 1900 I'd say. BTW, the first Tour de France looked like this. so, if they were to create an hexagonal shape, we can safely state that the creators of the Tour were dead drunk when they did it. PS : I believe the book you're referencing is that one , which indeed might have influenced the birth of the Tour de France, but AFAIK has nothing to do with this hexagon thing.
  14. The Adidas Arena was opened yesterday (8,000 seats), it will host badminton and rhythmic gymnastics during the Olympics. Il will also become the home of the Paris Basketball team.
  15. If anyone is looking for a Liévin streaming link. Here you go, VPN and all that: https://www.lequipe.fr/tv/
  16. The french swimming federation has more than 300.000 members, around 60% are female. It's simply a minuscule discipline.
  17. I only speak about women's water polo. Last year, France was ranked 9th at the world championships with a playing base of 500 members. This tells me everything I need to know about the complete lack of global reach of this sport and that it should not be anywhere close to be an olympic event. Doesn't mean there are no other disciplines as much under deserving as women's water polo (specially with LA 28 additional sports)
  18. ... That was not necessarily to be taken seriously.
  19. Because, the sport allready has ten teams more than it deserves.
  20. No quadruple! Take your loose team Norway!
  21. I still find a bit off that IOC is pushing THAT hard against building a new sliding venue. Because if we don't build any new venue for the Olympics, then nobody is ever going to build any new venue for the sport. Period. And without new venues, the same set of countries is going to win olympic medals for ever and ever (and one in particular who happens to have 3 times more venues than anybody else). I understand Agenda 2020, the general economical/political context around the olympic games and that you can't ask for the same degree of universality of summer olympic sports. But still, if you basically give up on you only chance to grow the sport by building new venues in new countries, what's the point of the sliding events at the olympics ?
  22. There are no track in the country (outdoor or indoor). The one from Albertville was converted into an athletic one right after the Olympics.
